Disgusting. No regard for anyone else around them and a mother and child were caught up in it and can be seen walking away.

A ban from any sort of public event for life for things like this might make them think twice. No football matches..no pop concerts, no sports events. If they can ban people from football i'm sure they can ban people from other events.

I went to Haydock once on a stag do; handily positioned between Liverpool and Manchester. One of the worst days out of my life.

Never seen that happen at York races. Everyone's obviously very drunk but also chilled out there in my experience.

The smaller Yorkshire courses are brilliant, weatherby, Thirsk, Ripon, Catterick etc

Ripon races is a fantastic day out! especially in May on the family Sunday meeting, we go every year n it's ace..

I've been going to races in Southern England 6/7 times er year for the past 10/15 years and drunken punch-ups started getting more frequent about 5/6 years ago. About that time there was a really big punch up at Newbury Races with Cardiff City v Swansea football supporters (it being a different sport/different country didn't deter them). Newbury got really bad but they've got it more under control now (nipping it out in the bud before drunk/aggressive groups get to that stage).
Ive seen a few smaller scuffles at Epsom (Oaks Day) and at Sandown in the past too. I do think the race organisers have got more on top of it lately, they have to or the majority of their customers will be deterred.

As already alluded to- smaller courses with lesser crowds seeem to have little or no trouble- around me Ive never seen problems at eg. Salisbury or Brighton.

You have to condemn race riots no matter what setting they may be in.

One without - Folkestone... yes I know there’s an e in it but I’m looking for a second place point.

Was there yesterday, probably my 50th visit to Haydock in the last 15 years. Never seen any trouble at a winter jumps meeting, but avoid the summer Friday night / Saturday flat meetings as it has a shocking reputation for trouble. No police there yesterday, no sniffer dogs, both of which have become common place at race meetings this year. Trouble went on for a good 15 minutes before the main group fighting went inside out of view. Police cars were flying in as I was driving out yesterday.

Gangs have often had serious fights at racecourses over the years. Violence is nothing new at the track.

A couple of years back I was on a lunchtime train from Crewe to Chester and it was a races day at the Roodee. Upon arrival at Chester I noticed a heavy police presence with quite a few dressed in riot gear which I thought strange. I asked a guy I knew at the station what it was all about and it turned out that the previous day a train from Piccadilly had arrived at the same time a Merseyrail train had arrived. Cue a pitched battle between Mancs and Scousers. They had all been well dressed with collars, ties and posh frocks but you can take a lad/lass out of Liverpool/Manchester but you'll never take.............!
You know what I mean.

As is usuually the case only looks to be about 4/5 people who even throw a punch, lots of ****** up bellends running sbout and i notice the fat bird with the kid wasted no time contacting the Sun. Haydocks a decect course but avoid at all costs summer night meetings

Not a fan of horse racing by any stretch...but Been to the races just the once and that was Haydock.
It was summer 92 just weeks after our 4th division title win.went with the father in law & Padiham British Legion lot.

Anyway,Seconds before the start of the first few races when the crowd hushed one burst of a very welcome chant could be heard further up the terracing.

"Jimmy Mullen's claret & blue army"

After a while some Blackpool fans made their presence known with the odd chant of "Billy Ayre's tangerine army"

I thought hello,could be a spot of bother here.(They were arguably our biggest rivals at that time)

I intended not to have a drink until going into Wigan later but getting more than a bit bored I thought I'd just nip to the bar and also seek out these Claret lads.
Well blow me,,they were the Rawtenstall crew I often travelled to away matches with late 80's early 90's.cracking set of lads.

Upon saying our goodbyes I was ******* wrecked...the b@st@rds

As for the potential bother....Nah,the pool lads weren't dickheads either..had a good chat with 'em..decent set of lads.
