Lancs League 2019

With quite a few changes to local clubs could 2019 see the title coming back to the town of Burnley?

Burnley have gone back to Shadley Van Schalkwyk as professional after him not being available and his replacement getting injured. Bharat Tripathi has returned from Bootle.

Lowerhouse should have their full time professional back, but with the quality of sub pro's they got I'm not sure it's that much of a benefit. Joe Halstead and Jonny Whitehead have returned to the club with Whitehead sure to bolster the batting department.

Clitheroe have lost their best player Jack Dewhurst to Padiham as Pro.

Walsden all rounder Josh Gale has signed as professional for GMCL Premier League side Woodbank.

So it looks like the House and Burnley stronger and their rivals weaker.

Have Lowerhouse got two pros again?

They have several players who have been professional at other clubs, as do Burnley.

When I think of the quality of pros in the Lancs League, from Leary Constantine to Andy Roberts and beyond, this thread has seriously depressed me.

Luckily there is plenty of international cricket available if you want to watch the best of the best.

Go and watch our very own fast bowler Jimmy Anderson before he retires. Get a seat in the top tier right behind the bowlers arm and enjoy brilliance.

Some clubs have several pros (ALLEGEDLY!!) and poor old Nelson ain't even got one!! Seems pretty unfair to me. Maybe they should share them out a bit!!! :)

You could do with a sugar daddy like Gary Hunt.

You think Colne are paying players?!?!?!?!?! :o :o :o

All I can say is, if we are, we aren't getting value for money.

I don't know if he's paying them. He has put a lot of his own cash in to save the club hasn't he?

When people use the term "pro", I think some people are confusing it, thinking it's some guy on mega money each week to turn out for a local cricket side.
I'd be extremely surprised if it can be a full time job for many of the "pros". Some will get less for playing, than what a spectator watching him earns in a day.

Good to see Burnley CC are at last putting up a decent fence on Belvedere Road.
The money they make for parking on match days at 8 quid a car it should be gold plated.
Be more lucrative tarmacing the lot and creating a massive car park.

If they and the club sat down and worked out a plan, they could make a very nice self sufficient ground right there with new facilities, plenty of parking for match days and for the cricket, with a new stand for us, and a state of the art new pavilion totally self sufficient with the football match day revenue they make. There's quite a lot of room when you look at the space at the back/side.
