ITV. Harry Redknapp building a team of old English players to compete with The Germans.

I wonder if Dyche has sent any scouts?

I watched 2-3 minutes a few times whilst mainly watching something else. I found it difficult to stick with, it's painful to see how much some of these former pro athletes have let themselves go- especially Barnes & (“48.5% of you is fat”) Ruddock. The reviews of this first of two progs says that they lost 2-1 to a team of 15 yo lads in a practice game too- embarrassing.

It was a decent watch - though it has been clearly made mainly to boost Harry’s ego and his bank balance. He’s even got adverts for his jam roly poly pudding and he spends a lot of time showing off his unbelievably expensive house.
As for the players - it’s quite fun watching some of the banter and also pretty interesting to see them talk about what’s happened in their lives and how much they miss and still love football.
Of course they have chosen some of the more extreme ones in terms of weight like Razor Ruddock but he was massive when he played so was always going to be someone who puts weight on after finishing.
Yep they got beat by an u15 team but take a look at the game and they were a very good kids team with some big lads and Harry’s team played them when they had not started their fitness stuff...which was a bit stupid. Ruddock was actually struggling to move let alone kick the ball - he looks like heart attack material

I found it interesting how after no exercise and being so out of shape they lost 2-1 to a good u16 side - then a few weeks later they beat a professional Crystal Palace women’s team.

The background of the show was good to watch also and how players spoke about life after football and how it’s been easy to let themselves go. Merson (I always think he’s a Sherwood) obviously has a lot of demons though which have carried on from playing days and he’s obviously still struggling with massively now.

Really didn’t show the women’s game in a good light, getting beat by a bunch of fat middle-aged blokes, no matter how good they used to be. Can’t believe a pro-women’s team put themselves in the position tbh.

Also noticed the name Andy Gray (I’m assuming the ex Claret as opposed to the former Sky presenter)

Did a Sportsman’s Dinner at Crewe Alex a few years ago and thought he was a cock. However; His Sky Sports job is hopefully a good outlet for him and I hope he overcomes his demons and recovers. Mental health issues affect many blokes and unfortunately he’s a cock end who’s got mental issues. Despite not liking him I hope he gets better.

It’s happened a few times.

USA women’s team got beat convincingly by an u15 team in a warmup match ..... this was as world champions.

Aussie women got beat about 8-0 by a boys high school team.

Sure there have been a few more too like that.

It was a great watch if you took it for what it was.

I predicted the final score to the Mrs as they were walking out at Wemb .... er Brisbane Rd .... ley.

But yeah it was an enjoyable watch and quite amusing at times but proved Harry (my dog has a numbered account) Redknapp ain't no Laurence Olivier

Not sure it would be either - both are Scottish internationals. It will be the Andy Gray who played for England in early 90s, played for Palace & Spurs.

I realise that, but based on them having Jamaican international Micah Hyde within the England subs thought it could be possible

I noticed Micah's name wasn't on the credits for the second part last night but was for the first. That throws out my theory on Andy Gray though.
