3rd left, back row...ginge? ..sure I had a bit of a noise up with him one saturday night in turf hotel...dunno the year but "broken down angel" by nazereth was on juke box.

I used to play in the Brunshaw Youth Club team with Dennis. Hard man.

I recognise quite a few :
Anita Dobson & Brian May
Farah Fawcett Majors
Bonnie Tyler
Slash
Pippy Longstocking

Some good players there and at a time when local footy was thriving - sadly not the case today.
George Isherwood was exceptional.
Dennis Orr was good too - a likeable rascal who assists Johnny Cheetham in his furniture business to this day.
Ian Lindsay was good from an early age, playing with me in the Junior Schools Town Team and sticking with it through the years - a natural.
That team developed and went on to be a force in the Sunday Premier League, which included ex and semi- pros.

I once ended up in a punchup in a match he was reffing. Cup semi final. Entirely my fault. He knew this full well.... and still sent the other man off

You are spot on with all the names in the photo but not the score of the final against Parkside, although I also would have sworn it finished 3 nil.
Amazingly on the back of the photo I found in the loft yesterday were two Burnley Express news clipping from the semi-final and final 46 years ago.

The first one reads:
The finalists in the new Eric Riley Trophy are Parkside and Queens Park, both Division Three teams who beal Division Two teams in the semi-final last week.
Parkside beat Olypic 3-1 with goals from Teehan (2) and M.Davis, whilse Geoff Plant and Bob Scott wereQueen's Park scorers in a 2-1 win over Prestige.

The second one reads:
Honours in First League Season.
Queen's Park win the Eric Riley Trophy, Mullen & Durkin take the Second Division championship - that winds up the honours story in the Burnley District Sunday League this season.
For Queen's Park, victory over Parkside means they have won the double in their first season in the league, having clinched the Division Three title weeks ago, while Mullen & Durkin draw with challengers Royal Butterfly means they'll be in the First Division for the first time.
In an excellent final at the Arbories last Sunday Queen's Park shocked fellow Division Three side Parkside by taking the lead after just 10 seconds through Ian Lindsay. Two more goals before half-time from Bob Scott looked to have sewn things up but after the break Parkside put on the pressure. They forced a succession of corners, but excellent defending from Queen's Park and a bit of luck restricted their scoring to only one goal, scored by Green. however Queen's Park deserve their 3-1 win.

I saw Dennis entering the CF end for the Palace game, sound chap to talk to.

You are dead right about George Isherwood, star player in a very good team with the one and only Denis Orr a very close second. Got to mention Johnny Cheetham in goals as well, top man.

Must ask as I wasn't quite born then, what was Martin Dobson doing there?

Bob Scott one of the best footballers burnley as a town produced...always put me in mind of Arsenals Liam Brady.unfortunately he liked a drink or two Like all of us....good Lad and a good player...

In the first season that Queen's Park was formed we used to train in the school hall or gym one evening a week at Townley school.
We got wind that one of the other teams in the league had been to the Turf and asked if they had anyone who would act as a trainer for them and one of the reserve team player had agreed to do it.
I can't remember who it was in our team but he said I'll go down to the Turf and see if we can get someone to come to Townley once a week and coach us.
Unbelievable the following week Martin Dobson turned up and coached us until the end of the season. I remember one week when Dobbo couldn't make it and he got Mick Docherty to take his place. When Dobbo heard that we had made the final, he promised to come along and watch the match and true to his word he did just that. Dobbo was the captain of a great Burnley at that time. Today it would be like popping down the Turf and asking if anyone was willing to coach an amateur team for free and Tom Heaton volunteering.
Dobbo was always a hero of mine but he suddenly went up to a all new level.

My Sunday team used to train with Burnley Grammar School Old Boys at Towneley Sports Barn (as I recall it was called) back in the early 70s and Mick Doc was the regular trainer/coach

Just seen on FB that Dennis Orr has sadly passed away.

Great character.

Rest in peace.

Recognise about four (plus Dobbo on there).

George Isherwood was a hell of a good player who I believe Jimmy Mac tried to take to Oldham. Another who sadly passed away too early.

I played with Ian Lindsay and George Isherwood at school. I'm sure George did go to Oldham for a short spell and
finished up playing for Darwen.

I wasnt aware that George had passed away, RIP George, a good lad.

Not too long ago - cancer I believe - he'd have been around 65 I suspect.

Sorry to hear about Dennis. One hell of a character. Played against him many times. One match I particularly remember the team he was playing for got a penalty, he was the self elected taker. He was ready for his approach when one of my team mates said. "It's ok he'll miss it"., and me being a lippy 18 year old added. " I, he'll trip over his nose". Wish I hadn't. Spent the rest of the match avoiding him.
Another guy who springs to mind is Bob Scott jnr. I knew him as a boy lived in the same area. My family moved away and I didn't see him for years. Then one day I found myself in opposition against him. He had suddenly started speaking in a Scottish accent.. I knew he wasn't Scottish but kept my mouth shut. I'd learnt that lesson re. Dennis. Great days.

So sad to hear about Dennis. What a fantastic character and a great footballer.
I’ll have a permanent reminder for the rest of my life thanks to Dennis. We were having a warm-up before the start of a game for Queens Park on Townley when I tried to tip a shot Dennis over the bar. Not being a goalkeeper I made a bit of a mess of it and dislocated my thumb. We didn’t have subs in them days and Dennis had a look at it and decided to pull it back for me before I had time to say no way. If I’d gone to the hospital after the game and got it properly reset I probably wouldn’t have a lump sticking out at the bottom of my right thumb.
