No, not a weekend out in Leeds, the best documentary on TV at the moment.
For those who have watched it, what are your thoughts?

I work in WGC. The are some nice areas but like most places there are rough areas. Just on the outskirts you have Digswell and Tewin where there are some huge houses.

It showed the police in a very poor light last night. Such a big case and one 1 officer knew the details yet he was on holiday!!
I thought he would get off with it as the evidence could easily be disputed therefore it would be difficult to prove beyond reasonable doubt

This week's episode had me wanting the Scouse Scally to get off with it,the two coppers interviewing him were totally useless, but the scouse sung like a bird after they said they had found his blood on the drugs bag, then he got 2 years prison....the whole system is a joke out in 12 months and back to sunny Spain on Ryanair living off the proceeds of drug crime....a joke.

I think him putting his ten penneth in helped him in a way as the no comment answer was going nowhere. Though I get "no comment" he was right to talk here on admitting the one packet with blood on...otherwise he'd have copped for the lot I think. I rest my case.M'Lud

Fitting given the number of dodgy people that live there. A truly horrible place that I had the misfortune to travel to on a daily basis for work. It has a couple of redeeming features. The A505 to Hitchin, the M1 north or south - take your pick, Luton Airport. All facilitate an exit from the town.

One of my favourite programmes. The one the other week where the lad was done for child sexual images and then as a result the cops stumbled over a massive drugs supply network was hilarious.

Although he got a half decent stretch for the drugs, the sentence handed to him for having around 54,000 indecent images of children was pitiful. 6 years for drugs supply and only an additional 18 months for the images.
Just shows the disparity between the sentences handed out to those who are in the public eye, and those who aren't

Normally enjoy it but last couple of weeks has highlighted that when faced with more complex cases that may require more probing interviews or enquiries a lot of the officers were totally out of their depth. This may just have been a resource/training issue but it’s an area the police need to strengthen as poor investigations always lead to problems at court.

It’s a very good series but you could do without the silly 24 countdown timer . I’d also like to see the odd one where the old bill make a mistake or get the wrong man etc

Also most of the coppers seem a bit like a glorified HR dept just administrating basic interviews rather than hard crime detection . That said it’s still good tv

Astonished they allowed this week's episode to be broadcast considering how incompetent the police came across as. To allow a high level, complex drugs case to be left with somebody with absolutely no prior knowledge while the DS went on holiday was unbelievable. The interview was borderline farcical. I bet the guy couldn't believe his luck and would've gladly accepted the year in jail considering the forensics evidence.

Not sure if it was her style but she seemed very weak in the interview. Fair sentence 8 years!

8 years seemed like a massive sentence to me. Didn't even profit from it. I was thinking 2 years or so.

Not sure that makes any sense. He didn't profit from it, because he was caught. Whether the insurers paid out or not also doesn't matter, it's the fact he attempted it.

I know !
Does seem a long sentence.
This from Ipswich;
"criminal gang who made almost £1 million by submitting fake insurance claims for restaurants they said had been flooded by burst water mains have been jailed " Ringleader got 5 years

I think they are purposefully showing the Police to be short staffed and under funded to try and get back the money taken from the cuts.

Crazy that the Dr gets 8 years for insurance fraud but the peado drug dealer with 54,000 sickening images of kids gets a 12 month suspended sentence. Joke of a judicial system

Just watched this
One can only assume that the arrogant prick rubbed the judge up the wrong way. In fact he did. Quick google search threw up some articles. He called the judge a racist and currupt.
Clearly a very intelligent man lacking common sense.
The lead copper called Dave seems like a decent honest plod. The type of bloke who has some good stories to tell

The surgeon was clearly an arrogant sociopath. That wouldn't have gone in his favour during his trials I expect.
Very enjoyable series, they seem to front-load the best cases though so it tends to get less interesting as it progresses.
