Andy Carroll

Unsurprisingly out injured for the rest of the season and free to leave at the end of the season. I am really worried that this has a Burnley signing written all over it.

Another big target man
Poor record of injuries
Hasn't scored many goals
Over 30
No resale value
No transfer fee

I think he'll retire, not sure anyone would dare risk taking him for even a one year deal.

I think we will sign on the same 4 year deal we gave Crouch

Seen as though all our forwards are over 30 big target men and always injured

Apart from Crouch, which recently Burnley signing does this replicate, out of interest?

I don't remember signing anyone else who fits those criteria. Have you someone in mind?

Doesn't even fit Crouch. He had a good injury record and had scored lots of goals.

Jonathan Walters fits most of these
Crouch fits most of these
Jutkiewicz fits most of these

That's 3 examples.

They really don't. Not any of them. Crouch and Walters fit the over 30 category; that's about it, apart from both being cheap and therefore low risk signings.

I can't think of a single striker we've signed who has a poor record of injuries.

Is Caroll REALLY injured so often, or does he have "other" issues? Just wondering like.

It's amazing how, whenever a Burnley player picks up an injury soon after signing for us, it somehow filters backwards through time and retrospectively affects their entire career, changing the course of history.

Stop sniffing crack you absolute loon.

All of those players had no issue with injuries prior to signing for Burnley.
Crouch is only having a minor op whilst we are at it.

Carroll is a walking injury pretty much, like his midfield team mate.
Dyche wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.
If anything, we should be selling them Defour!!!

There are MANY worse signings we could make. If the manager wants him, he passes a medical and the board is happy with the financial terms I would have no problem signing Andy Carroll.

On a free with a wage fitting someone with his current form and games played I'd take him could be like a Barton signing and under Dyche he finds his form. He has quality and natural ability so if he can put his ego away id have him on a 1 year. Wouldn't break the bank on him though.

We won't get him.

Fat mike will jump at the chance of signing somebody on a free to 'replace' rondon who he doesn't want to pay money for.......

Released today. Will be interesting to see where he goes. If he stayed fit, he’d be a good signing.

He'd have to be on a "pay as you play" basis

You couldn't risk giving him a contract

But he doesn’t stay fit. 62 league starts for West Ham in six years.

Agreed. Rather us sign him than Crouch. No brainer.

Excellent option from the Bench on an incentivised contract.

62 starts in 6 years isn’t great is it mind

If the wages work for our budget I’d have him all day long, Vs Peter Crouch.

Surely the wages are too big? Mind you I thought that of Hart before he signed.

Either way, don’t bother unless Defour has asked for a mate in the treatment room.

He is a superb centre forward and the best header of a football, in the prem.

However, given the little we have seen of him, these last years, no one in their right mind should sign him.

When he plays, he seems intent on damaging other players. Why play, when you can get sent off? Why play, when you can be injured? Why play when you get paid anyway?

I would like to formally retract my above comment regarding Ian Helliwell.

The truth is we paid £30,000 for him.

Money that could have gone towards tarmac for the cat little stuff that used to be in front of the new Londside stand.

Well he's British, ageing and a Northern lad so he's probably a good character. That's most of Dyche's boxes ticked.
