I’m in Kitchener, Ontario, a city with a huge population of German decent. Formerly called Berlin, changed to Kitchener during WW1 for obvious reasons. The pronunciation of names such as Fuchs and Kuntz has been anglicized to protect the innocent :lol:

I once had to telephone a Mr Kuntz for work. It didn't end well...

Danny Shittu.... also slightly different but there are a few players out there that don't suit their surnames because of their usual meaning i.e. Peter Crouch - being so tall and Kyle Walker - who's main attribute is arguably running fast

Which takes me Back years when I gave the Lady customer of the house a colour chart to Look at for the external decoration work... Do you remember the East German from years ago called Kuntz? Commentators used to pronounce it Koontz if I recall and that was in the days before political correctness.

I once had to ring a customer in New York called Dick Rise, that didn't end well either, especially when I asked the lady who answered the phone if I could speak to Dick and she replied "which one, we have a few Dicks working here" :lol:

That's how it is pronounced. As is Fuchs - Fooks.

I suppose the Argentinian footballed Oscar Arce was pronounced differently too - I don't know.
