It was all but a formality today and a 0-0 home draw against Braintree means they go up to League Two as National League champions.

Solihull Moors, Salford, Wrexham, AFC Fylde, Harrogate and Eastleigh will contest the play-offs.

Looked like Graham Alexander would get Salford up as Champions at one point but they had a huge wobble, pleased for Orient though

I think a lot of us have a soft spot for Leyton Orient because of 1987, and I'm well pleased Salford haven't made it, nothing but a toy for a few rich men.

Why did the Class of 92 buy Salford and not Bury or Oldham?

I would guess at initial purchase cost

Wasn't it a joint venture with some guy from the Far East. Sentiment would have gone out of the window where Bury and Oldham were involved.

Especially when West Ham effectively moved into their patch and must have tempted fans away.

Only one of the three, although it is large, in percentage terms. ;)

A Club that we will always be bound to, what with one of our most famous and important games eponymously associated with them. Glad to see them back after a few difficult years.

Funny when I was on an a Friends of the Earth Climate Change trip to Copenhagen a few years ago I met an Orient fan, he was the first and last one I’ve met who was actually at our game in 86/87 and in the away end.

I was also at that dreadful 0-3 game when DJ was making his debut but I think he excused himself by saying that he wasn’t very fit when Casper signed him and should have not really played that night.

When he went out on loan to Doncaster Rovers and they played at the Turf we all saw what Jones was really like having gained fitness, did he not score the only goal in their 0-1 win as well?

How does the National League play off system work with 6 teams? The two highest ranked teams automatically into the semis?

Yeah I think so, and the games are all just one leg I believe, with the team that finished highest having home advantage.

Top (Leyton Orient) go up and the play offs are then

4th v 7th
5th v 6th

These are one leg games and then the winners play 2nd & 3rd in the semi-finals with 2nd & 3rd at home. Then the final at Wembley.

Strange as the Nevilles have a Bury connection through their father and Scholes & Butt are massive Oldham fans. As per the previous reply regarding initial purchase price though.

I think Jones played centre half didn't he and scored from a corner at the Bee Hole end.

Pleased that Orient are back in the FL.

Something ironic about them being a “Class of 92 project” when they’re effectively the Manchester City of the non-league.
