Sad when 'Tommy Robinsonofabitch' is almost level with the Tories, who got the beating, they deserved.

I'm no fan of Robinson, but I had to laugh when Emily Thornberry insisted on using his birth name of " Stephen Yaxley Lennon ", on the BBC results programme tonight. If Lady Nugee, which is her other name, had been challenged on that, it would have made interesting viewing ...

Sad when the Wiltshire Labour party actually polls less than TR did in Burnley ( 4.19% as opposed to Robinson's 4.4% ), and the Lib/Dems vote share in Burnley reduced by 5%, bucking the trend ....

One good thing about the current parliament making a mess of Brexit is that at last, a large number of voters who have held back changes in politics by only ever voting for one party no matter what, are now becoming willing to break from such tradition. This in addition to new generations coming of age.who have no affiliation, aren't as easily influenced by their elders as previous generations were, and more alternative parties and individuals to vote for, means we could at last start seeing something more representative of the people of this country.
What's happening could be likened to Britain's retail landscape, with Labour and Conservatives the department stores of politics.

Result share compared to 2014 .....

Brexit Party 39.4% ( + 39.4% )
Labour 25.6% ( - 8.1% )
Lib Dems 9.7% ( - 4.1% )
Green 8.2% ( + 4.4% )
Conservative 4.7% ( - 8.1% )
T.Robinson 4.4% ( + 4.4% )
UKIP 2.5% ( - 26.2% )
Others 5.5% ( + 2.0% )

Brexit Party clearly taken over UKIP's role for the leaver's, and added another 10% of the vote share compared to UKIP last time. The Lib Dem's performed poorly in Burnley, losing a third of their vote, which contrasts with their excellent performance nationally.

The Burnley results are reflective of a town the is very pro leave and supportive of a hard Brexit. What it also demonstrates is what the vote across the UK could have looked like had Farage and No Deal really got the public's backing they claim.

Reassuringly across the wider spectrum the pro remain/confirmatory vote parties out performed the pro Brexit/No Deal parties and thus the only conclusion is whist Leave still needs to be the main democratic goal it can only be done through deal a based solution as originally promised

No Deal is now 100% off the table unless explicitly supported by the majority in a new vote

No Deal is now 100% off the table unless explicitly supported by the majority in a new vote When was this taken off the table? Who took it off the table? We are just starting a leadership contest that will determine the new PM and the stance they will take. Not all of the runners want a soft Brexit and No Deal is still thankfully on the table.
Incidentally, this is another set of results that will be ignored by our MP. Spin will be applied to enable her to completely deny the wishes of her electorate. She will continue to work against the wishes of the majority of the townspeople, and I hope that come the next GE, it is remembered.

That doesn't quite make sense. No deal is off the table because it only got 35% of the vote; remain is off the table because it lost the referendum and yesterday only got 40%; so we have to go with May's deal unless the EU agrees something else, even though May's deal got 9%. :?

Remoaners have decided to apply their desperate logic to the premier league. And it's a blow for Manchester city.

They've added up the final points tally for Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

And they've announced that LONDON won the Premier League!

The burnley result, along with vast areas of the North and Midlands, shows if the metropolitan London bubble dwellers in the labour party ( the Islington dinner party) take the remain and 2nd referendum path, they'll be annihilated in their former heartlands.

Take your core voters for granted and deny democracy by not respecting and enacting the referendum result and they will punish you.

Don't believe me?

Labour's policy was to have no policy at all. Just to oppose the Tories. And when it came down to voting, all the other parties were not only opposing the Tories too, they were doing with an actual policy. No wonder they lost so many votes.

Burnley is interesting. A very good labour MP so has a .majority of labour voters
But Burnley voted for Brexit, quite convincingly which would tell us many labour voters voted for Brexit. Suppose the MP lobbied for a second referendum and to stay in the EU. She has been smart enough to keep quiet unlike the City labour people like Watson and Thornberry and others.

I suspect that many would disagree with your assessment of the qualities of Burnley's current Labour MP, not least a faction in the Burnley Constituency Labour Party, who would have her deselected, and replaced with Sobia Malik ...

These results might explain why the CUK MP'S are running scared of forcing by-election's.

Change UK's performance in selected councils:

South Cambridgeshire: 7.1% - Heidi Allen
South Hams: 3.3% - Wollaston
Broxtowe: 4.7% - Soubry
Redbridge: 4.3% - Gapes
Enfield: 4.6% - Ryan
Stockport: 3.3% - Coffey
Lambeth: 8.1% - Umunna
Luton: 3.1% - Shuker
Liverpool: 2.4% - Berger
Nottingham: 3.6% - Leslie
Barnsley: 2.4% - Angela Smith

Now it's true that a Westminster by-election would be a different kettle of fish, but i'd lay long odds on any of them holding on under their new banner.

In fact if those figures were repeated only Allen and Umunna would retain their deposits.

This might also be a major factor in rumours of a merger/electoral pact with the Lib Dems, after last night's results i can't see what's in it for the Lib Dems though.

Presumably they would calculate that they themselves can't win in any of the above 11 seats, but if Lib Dem and green voters voted with the rest of the "remain" voters in those constituencies, then it would almost certainly ensure that the Change UK candidates would hold onto their seats, and generally vote with them in parliament.
e.g. In Heidi Allen's South Cambridgeshire constituency over 60% voted remain in the referendum, but the liberals came a v poor third in the 2017 GE, and Allen got over 50% of the vote. If Libs supported Allen in a future GE then it would virtually guarantee a good majority for her.

I am not equipped to comment about her local profile, however, I can point to the visible, at long last, regeneration, in the town. This doesn't happen, without an MP ensuring the path to Government, is clear.

The problem with taking No Deal off the table, is it by default means we remain. Why would the EU negotiate a deal when they believe giving nothing will result in us staying.
People need to understand that leaving with No Deal is the only way we will ever get meaningful negotiations.
I'm sure many remainers are well aware of that, they just like to think we are daft enough to not see through it.

Take a look at the map on the BBC website. I know the areas are different to parliamentary constituencies particularly in big cities and only about half of the number, but just look how many areas brexit won. In a fptp system tbp could really win many seats in a ge.

I'd love labour to go down the 2nd referendum/ Remain path.

It'd mean, there's a good chance, that plenty of places like burnley will have a Brexit Party MP.
