It's not a rumour I thought I would be seeing but fair play if they could pull that one off.

I'd fancy Phil Beardsley to beat him in a race nowadays.IanMcL wrote:Isn't he very old?
Is he any relation to Peter Beardsley ex Liverpool and Newcastle? JimJimMcDonald wrote:I'd fancy Phil Beardsley to beat him in a race nowadays.
Yes, but a skill level far beyond most in the premier league.IanMcL wrote:Isn't he very old?

Will be interested in the reaction if this was to happen after the uproar around the Ched Evans case
Yeah brothers. Some people are way to easyyyyBosscat wrote:Is he any relation to Peter Beardsley ex Liverpool and Newcastle? Jim

How do you know? Has he got previous?Vegas Claret wrote:Hope it's true, ruin the dressing room in one foul swoop !
Wages will do it all by themselves.Quickenthetempo wrote:How do you know? Has he got previous?
You think we got rid of players that weren't on the same level as Defour? I can't say I noticed or was aware.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Wages will do it all by themselves.
Plus he's a winner, has been for years and stepping into a dressing room where the ability of players is several degrees lower means he's going to be annoyed with them most of the time because they won't have the same vision on the pitch of where to play the ball.
Defour had the same issues with some of our players if I remember rightly, hence some of the changes to personnel after his first season.
Boyd, it was reported on here by Claret Tony if I remember rightlyQuickenthetempo wrote:You think we got rid of players that weren't on the same level as Defour? I can't say I noticed or was aware.
Ribery could go either way. He's quite capable of winning 6 or 7 games all by himself. Gives them a chance of staying up. Which they don't seem to have at the minute.
yeah he'll be on about 150k more than anybody else !Quickenthetempo wrote:How do you know? Has he got previous?
They might just pay him a 4m signing on bonus and 40k a week?Vegas Claret wrote:yeah he'll be on about 150k more than anybody else !
yeah they could but they wontQuickenthetempo wrote:They might just pay him a 4m signing on bonus and 40k a week?
Being a free transfer it will work for all parties.
Yeah the players would care how much someone else is on.Dyched wrote:Don’t buy into ruining the dressing room rubbish. Fair enough if they go and get Mooy or whoever and pay him £100k more a week. I’m more than sure the Sheff Utd players wouldn’t care less how much more Ribery would earn. He’s a great player and would seriously help the team staying a PL team.
Not sure. I reckon Lionel Messi could probably improve us, and I say that as a fan of Ashley Westwood's effort last season.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:It would be like us signing Messi, pretty pointless on the pitch because he'd be so far ahead of the rest of the players we wouldn't get the ball to and from him at the right times.
Disagree. If you work alongside someone who you feel has the same level of ability as you but earns twice as much, you would feel aggrieved. If you work alongside someone who has twice the ability you have then you understand their value is more to the business.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Yeah the players would care how much someone else is on.
It means they will assume the club can afford to improve their own contracts and they'll be telling their agents as much, or the agents will already be eyeing up the money.
Plus they aren't good enough to play alongside Ribery, their lack of ability means he'd be wasted playing for them.

He'd improve any team, but my point is if our players aren't able to spot the same through balls or position themselves to receive the ball from him he'd be wasted.NottsClaret wrote:Not sure. Yeah because football agents think exactly like you're suggesting....Burnley1989 wrote:Disagree. It would cause issues if their work rate was poor but I just don't see Ribery being that kind of person
Messi is probably a bad example to be honest. I know what you’re saying though. A bit like do dar at Fulham last season (name escapes me?)GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:He'd improve any team, but my point is if our players aren't able to spot the same through balls or position themselves to receive the ball from him he'd be wasted.
Like when we signed Ian Wright in the third tier!GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Wages will do it all by themselves.

Give it a rest, you are talking about a team of Premier League footballers! This isn't him trapping up Belvedere for a game in the ressies, he'd be playing in a Premier League team, the bulk of whom are internationals!GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:He'd improve any team, but my point is if our players aren't able to spot the same through balls or position themselves to receive the ball from him he'd be wasted.
Are they employing him in the club store?Sutton-Claret wrote:He'd shift some shirts....
The likely hood is that it's the reverse order of your options..Longsider wrote:Have waded through a lot of tat on this post can someone actually tell me has he signed, likely to sign or is it a load of bull.
Not even fit to lace Riberys boots!ZizkovClaret wrote:Benito Carbone anyone?
Yes but he still played more games last season than he had in the previous 6 or 7!IanMcL wrote:Isn't he very old?
I see parallels, even if yes, ribery has been the better player by some waycricketfieldclarets wrote:Not even fit to lace Riberys boots!
Nah he's almost 48.ZizkovClaret wrote:Benito Carbone anyone?
