I think the number of votes he's got in the team of the last 10 years amply shows just how highly rated he is by us Clarets.

I’ll be more than happy for the entire football world to think he’s bobbins until he’s lifted one of the three trophies with us, at the earliest.

Ben Mee’s biggest problem is that he can’t play next to Ben Mee - if he could, he’d be playing for England.

His biggest problem is that he isn't great with the ball.
And that's the reason he'll never play for England.

Have you ever seen the youth games he played in and the balls he was firing all over?
Makes Tark look naff from how he used to do it.
Not saying that means he should play for England because of that ... but he is/was much better at it than we can see now. Maybe it’s because he had that extra second back then to do it?

He’s been nothing short of amazing for us. Pa Beamish always raves about how good Colin Waldron was for us, back in the ‘60s and ‘70s; he reckons he’s as good as him.
Dyche’s Teams are making Legends to be talked about to Future Generations, and Mee is one of those.

I don't know, I just know that he isn't great with the ball for international football.
Although if England were in a World Cup final and had a lead with 10 minutes to go but were under the cosh, I'd be really happy to see Ben Mee come on.

I thought it was Tom Heaton that organised our defence and made them great?

Impossible to pick a favourite there. Each time one came one I didn't think the next could match it. And it did, If I REALLY had to pick two favourites it would be Palace and Chelsea. Palace one is unreal if less 'exciting'.

Remember when he first signed. Think it was Oldham away him and Trippier played in a friendly. And remember thinking what Hansen said... FFS Win nothing with kids! Thought at that level, with that type of inexperience replacing older heads like Mears we were snookered. How wrong!

My favourite wasn’t on that vid but the one from
hunt at Reading.
I remember thinking “HA!! HOW THE HELL DID HE MISS FROM THERE?!?!?”
......... then saw the replay.

Is there anyone who doesn't think Mee is very good? I'm yet to meet anyone who thinks that.

Has the odd mistake in him but same could be said about 95% of “world class” defenders.
He seems to play even better for a while though after his blips which is one of his strengths for me.

Ben Mee is a good player but Sean needs to eradicate the England style pass sideways to Tarks when starting an attack. He needs to get the ball out wide and forward far quicker to build momentum

Ben Mee is a fantastic player and gets the most out of himself. Generally good positionally, well organised, great timing of tackles and blocks. The reasons he has not played for England are lack of height, lack of pace and not as good as others on the ball. England generally have lots of possession so need players who are good on the ball. Also he was probably in our worst 3 regular players in the first half of the season so that didn't help last season. Thankfully had a great second half to the season. He is a great moneyball signing. Hopefully he keeps flying under the radar.

He's a lot better with the ball than some of our fans give him credit for.
I'll agree with the lack of pace but he makes up for some of that by reading the game superbly.
He has also adapted for this too.I sit in theJimmy Mac so I don't often see the match from "side on" but at Bournemouth last season it was noticeable how deep he dropped when anticipating a covering position against their quick forwards.

I agree with all of the above about Ben’s ability, above all else, he has balls! The lad is as hard as nails, even though he doesn’t look it. I love the bloke!!

The only reason he doesn’t play for England is because he’s plays for Burnley. Same reason Heaton isn’t England’s number one. They don’t play for a fashionable club. And we have seen how that strategy has worked out in the U21 European Championships. Didn’t pick McNeil even though he’s head and shoulders above some of these turning out for Chelsea reserves and destined for a career in the lower divisions at best.
Don’t believe me?
Check out the link for an example of “he must be good cos he plays for a London club”

Nowt will ever beat this! Sums Ben up. Not great at distribution but I'd rather he did what he does best and that's defend.

I now declare this as “Tufty’s Law”. Any thread about Ben Mee is never complete until somebody had referenced that headed clearance at Reading.
