Even with a new manager having no time to access the current squad they have highlighted players to bring in and all under the radar with no opposition to them getting the players, no silly low dragged out bids just BOOM Clarke signing, BOOM Trossard 18m signing.
Lets hope we are not playing the same transfer market pathetic games again, there's no major football tournaments on and players have had their holidays so were waiting for ????????????? what ?

We're waiting because we don't think Brighton is the level we should be aiming for?

 or  depending whether you're trolling or being serious.

£77m spent last summer - not sure the manager had any say in the signings

Did they really spend that much?

It’s Dan Ashworth there now in charge of it.

A League 1 centre-back,and an unproven signing from a poor Belgium league,i don't think Sean will be losing any sleep just yet.

Think I remember a few on here last season telling us how Fulham were "showing us the way"
as well when they were spending like it was going out of fashion.

That worked out well for 'em. :)

Remember it was same in 2015 when Derby were making a load of signings and we’d not brought anyone in. That worked out well for Derby too. :D

They paid £17 million for Iranian Alireza Jahanbakhsh last season. He played 24 games and scored no goals with no assists

The OP summed up Brightons problems in his first sentence.
Imagine signing players without having any idea how they will fit in with the current squad.

As said numerous times before you only get signings done at this stage if you
A. Pay the asking price in terms of fee, and
B. You pay the package the player wants

Anyone who hasn't had their head in the ground for the last decade or listens to Sean Dyche will know that we don't do either.
Players and clubs will often leave it until later stages before accepting bids, or signing for us as they will keep their options open waiting for a better deal.
It's the reason we often get gazumped or don't get them "across the line"

Not a dig at the club, it is just the way we operate.

We dont operate like Brighton.Wasting money on dross and then expecting them to be stars in the toughest league in the world.
We are in good shape and with Aaron Lennon returning have covered our gaps.We need to ship out Joe

Brighton might have a track record of signing players early, but they don't have much of a track record of signing players well. I won't be bothering myself over this tbh.

squad still in transition from the previous season, adding more unproven signings, if they have a tricky start to the season I can see them really struggling.

Also several reports suggesting we do need to ship a few out before we can bring a some in, now I understand this maybe only in terms of wages.
We do seem to be carrying a lot of dead wood who either can't or won't get a game.

With those released, if we got rid of a further 4 who cant or wont get a game, it could easily free up 250k a week in wages, and that should allow us to bring in 4 first team players ( that is all I think we need personally ) and I'd certainly settle for that.

Improving the starting 11 will automatically improve the squad.
Plugging the gaps and not strengthening the starting 11 can be costly both financially and in terms of not moving forwards.

I don't think anyone is saying that signing players early automatically results in success, but equally Dyche himself would readily admit that he'd prefer to have players in before pre-season kicks off. We're still a good fortnight away from that milestone, so this is clearly all a bit premature, but I don't think the OP's frustration that other clubs appear to manage to achieve that objective more successfully than we do is wholly misplaced.

Brighton's business last summer was not very successful, but neither was ours.

Swings and roundabouts as there were plenty on here telling us how Wolves wouldn't be able to function as a team and be a disaster by bringing in to many new players

That's the thing with messageboards you get extreme views at both ends that are usually well off the mark but it gives us something to read and discuss

Most of that Wolves team got promoted with them from the Championship so the comparison to Fulham is totally mis-placed.

I know but still people spouted it on here that Wolves big spending the previous year and last summer would see them struggle in the Prem League.

Getting business done early is a good thing but getting business done right is the most important thing. Last summer Brighton got their business done early and we got our business done late but ultimately we both didn't get it right and that's one of the reasons both teams ended up at the bottom close to relegation

I don't think there were many saying that about Wolves at all, got any quotes?

Not sure many people were saying Wolves would struggle. They walked the Championship with a team full of internationals and players who had played in the top leagues in Europe....and they even had a year to bed themselves into English football. That said they had probably assembled the most expensive team in the history of the Championship and there are few teams that could have done it in the way they did.

Im not trawling back through a messageboard but whenever someone suggests that another club is going to do well are maybe suggests they are doing better than us there is always plenty of people on here who jump on to criticise and say the opposite. This was definitely true with Wolves last year.

By the same token there were as many if not more on here suggesting Fulham's spending was a bad thing and they would struggle as well as some holding them up as a good example. That was sort of my point that you always get the extreme views at both ends on here so IMO what a few people said about something last year isn't a good basis of reasoning an argument for a completely different club and scenario now

There seems to be a presumption that we could do things differently if we chose to, but almost certainly that is not the case. We sign few players late in the transfer windows because that is the only option open to us at present.

Not sure about this,

Rui Patricio - Bought
Jonny - On Loan then bought
Joao Moutinho Bought
Dendonker - Bought
Raul Jiminez - Loan then bought.

Plus others who weren't in first team, though I do understand your point.

Having a local businessman for your owner who's worth 1.7bn dollars probably means you can afford to take risks when buying players. If we spent like Brighton have done in recent years, we'd be one bad season away from being in serious ****.

And yet our form over the second half of the season was every bit as good as the whole previous season when we finished 7th. We need tweaks here and there but serious business doesn’t always guarantee anything other than relegation, for example, in Fulham’s case....

Just leave it to the board and our unbelievable manager to tweak as they see fit. They ain’t doing a bad job compared to the majority of other league clubs....
