England v Norway - Women's world cup

Looks set to be a tough one this. Stories of an illness in the England camp and possibly missing three of the back four.

Norway are undoubtedly the best team we'll have played so far with physicality to go with their skill. I'm predicting a tight affair to be settled by a penalty.

To be settled by penalties might be more accurate.
Cummon the lionesses.

Wouldn't surprise me if this went to ET and possibly even a shoot-out,if it's the latter let's help the Lionesses are calmer than the Aussies were.

Phil Neville has made just one change to the side who beat Cameroon in the last 16.

Captain Steph Houghton and centre-back partner Millie Bright both start despite doubts over their fitness. Right-back Lucy Bronze is also in the starting XI.

Demi Stokes is the only player to come into the side, replacing Manchester United captain Alex Greenwood at left-back.

England XI: Bardsley, Bronze, Houghton, Bronze, Stokes, Walsh, Parris, Scott, Kirby, Duggan, White

So all the doubtful players start.how fit they truly are may become apparent as the game develops.

Norway unchanged from their victory over Australia.

Caroline Graham Hansen is the big danger she's just agreed a deal to join Barcelona from Wolfsburg, has vast big game experience from the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Set-pieces will also be a threat, they are physical as you might expect from a Scandinavian team, and well drilled defensively,at least they should provide a proper football match, not the nonsense Cameroon served up a few days ago.

Couldn't giving a flying saucer who wins but giving it a go so hope it's entertaining. Don't Norway have the best player in the world missing?

Come on, England! 8-)

Remember years ago flying over to Oslo for my only ever away game watching England.
That one we lost.

I can't remember the details but there was some disagreement this article might explain more FF.

It's good news for the rest of the contenders that she's not participating,England in particular.

Shows the dire quality in that England got a lucky break with a complete air-shot that turned out to be the perfect dummy! :)

I see David Beckham is in the crowd ....

People say Beckham was a Fantastic Footballer ... but thick as two short planks ...
Funny how people never said about Stephen Hawking that he was a Fantastic Brainbox ... but cannot play football for sh1t

Dire quality, because of an air-shot. I’ve seen plenty of air-shots at the top level of football. Poor attempt.

Both sides playing a good passing game. Norway’s passing a bit quicker and crisper. England dominating possession but sometimes overdoing the ‘tippy tappy’ and losing possession a little sloppily when under little or no pressure.

Hope that second calms them down. Every match they have looked good until they score. Then they try and slow the match down and the passing goes to the dogs. They have been by far the better side and the two misses could have finished this game off.

Agüero hit an air shot right in the centre of our goal at the Turf a couple of months ago that dummied all our defenders - unfortunately it hit his other leg and he got to knock it 27mm over the line for the winning goal

Why do they put the ball on the spot and then stand there like planks whilst the ref gives his orders to all and sundry? Wait until he’s finished with them, then spot it, score it.

Excellent stuff. I enjoyed watching that game. They can win this WWC. They just need to remain fully focused throughout the entire game/s.
