I thought the keeper should have pushed the first shot away to the touchline or collected it. Not parry it straight to him. The second was chalked off.

Score is showing 2-0 but lino definitely had his flag up. I think coverage has it wrong.

No answer to the Brazilians' style of play. They are much quicker on the ball, exquisite ball control, excellent at finding space, and our boys are chasing shadows.

Clearly a South American side. They get the lead and then they rough us up. Sick of hearing the refs whistle.

The pass from midfield from our player was very bad and let them run in.

Ref doesn't really know what he is doing at this point, switching it off

Ref ruining it. Whatever went off it was after the ball had legally gone out for our corner and he restarts with a fk for them.

I know that there have been Law changes, however, the events there have just totally mystified me.
AR flags for a free kick for a foul on a Claret right in front of him and the referee gives the free kick. There then ensues some stupidity whilst the ball is still not in play and this results in the Clarets number 4 getting a second yellow and being dismissed from the field.

Original decision was a free kick to Burnley in the corner, however, play restarts with a free kick to Palmeiras from where one of there players had been rolling around from the mystery incident. Very strange decision!

I watched a bit of it. We did look a lot smaller.

Only saw bits but Palmeiras were playing the typical “South American” dark arts to a T

Not retreating for free kicks
Gesturing for cards to be given
Sly little digs when challenging for balls

Then on top of that playing in that heat it certainly would have been an experience our lads wouldn’t have had before

No arguments with that, CT, but yet again it was our simple passing that is abysmal. For any age group. I watched 65mins and don’t recall us putting 3 passes together. Our one chance came from a long throw into their area.

Ref was shite and we let him know haha

Half of that team are just out of school, they are joining a new team, are full time footballers for the first time. So the passing was poor, so they were better than us. It happens, it’s pre season too.

They were definitely bigger than us, had all the tricks too, any contact led to a fall- the penalty was very soft. A couple of decent performances so see what the next match brings. Hope it's a better ref on Friday!

Tony has explained why we should be treating these youngsters with kid gloves. Encouragement is what we should be giving here, nothing else. Probably the furthest they have been from home in their lives, certainly for some of them. There might just be one or two gems amongst them and we are more likely to discover them if we nurture them, not treat them like first team regulars. Come on guys.

I was curious, at Brennans first yellow. Somebody was shouting, repeatedly in English, “two yellows is a red”. Did they think Brennan had already had a card? Or was it our bench warning him to be careful?
The ref was dreadful. As I mentioned, during the game, they came out second half and consistently got their afters in. He gave us plenty of FKs but no cards. He was then booking our lads for handbags.

I'll tell you though, you can tell our set-up has come on a lot in the 2 year since they last came here. The lads also looked far more physically imposing than the side who came over last time.

Was looking at a pic the other day of the lads who were there two years ago. Not many left at the club now I don't suspect although there was a certain Dwight McNeil out there in 2017.
