Does Mark Yates count? I maybe wrong but didn’t he make an appearance (or at least register due to the low amount of players we had) as a player when he came back with Cotterill’s management team.

If Stan Ternent counts then you can't leave out Harry Potts.

Andy Payton never played for our youth team, he never had a first spell because we didn't sign him.

I think Leighton James is the only one to have had four different spells as a player at Burnley

Might be so, think he might have been under contract at Swansea but they terminated it once Flynn had gone.

It was forgettable. He had one really good game in the Sherpa Van game at York.

There are a few like that with a loan followed by a permanent with a short gap between. It would also bring in Paul McGee, David Reeves & James O’Connor.
There’s also Mark Rhodes & Joe Neenan who were here on loan in 84/85 & signed permanently in the summer.

I didn't realise this was going to become so complicated. Perhaps I should have written some definitions to describe what I meant!

Then in that case, I’ll add
Michael Keane
Ben Mee
Kieran Trippier
All initially on loan before signing

They didn't leave before returning though. Crichton and the ones Tony listed did.

He did, Jimmy Adamson brought him back as player/coach for the reserves - probably around 1973 or 1974. Think he was here for just a year and he didn't play for the first team at all.
