Dave Thomas, who is a regular on here has loads in his catalogue. They tend to be a lot more intimate as a Claret, though an author. Sure you can get a shout out to him via CT

Mud, Sweat and Shears is the story of Roy Oldfield - groundsman at Burnley FC through the 1970s and 1980s. It tells of how he went from miner to parks and recreation man and eventually became one of football's most-respected turf men. you can buy it on amazon at present

I don't know if it's mentioned in the book but name a pub in Burnley where TB was the landlord.

Hi, just thought I'd update this thread and the topic title. Just finished reading 'Mud, Sweat & Shears' which is a great book in my opinion. Fascinating to read about Roy's stories and the challenges involved with being a groundsman in the 70s - late 80s. Now going to finish off the Bob Lord biography book which i am halfway through reading. Have got most of the other books on this thread and might look to revisit these, having read them months and years ago. Just wondered if anyone else has read any Clarets books over the last few weeks and if any stand out?

Try the Roger Eli Book... almost a text book on everything that can go wrong, except for one glorious season.

Evening Rodleydave, yes I have got the Roger Eli book you are referring to. Started reading it a while back but didn't complete it, enjoyed what I read, think I'm at least halfway with it. Just need to be more disciplined with finishing books! I'll retrace my steps and pick it up again. Thank you.
