Given we took 12 points from the 1st 19 games last season and ended up on 40 I don't see any pointers for the final tally in this early season stuff

Stop being silly 12 for me

3 v saints, with a proper pre season and a fresh squad, we'll be ready for the off.
3 v gunners, they won't be ready for us, tight game but the one goal difference should be enough.
3 v wolves, they'll be disorientated after their early start to the season, we'll take advantage.
3 v scousers, for no other reason than I'm feeling optimistic, and anything can happen with SD in charge.

In reality 6 would be a decent start, 8 would be great, all 12 would set us up nicely for a good season.
The only thing that I hope for is that we're not half season wonders, let's be good for at least 2/3 of a season, that would be real progress.

4 would be very good from fixtures including away games at teams finishing 5th and 7th last year + at home to Liverpool.
In early season, though, the "big" teams are sometimes still bedding in and can be more vulnerable - so let's hope for more.

42+ points from 38 is far more important than how many from 1st 4 games.... a season is defined over more games than 4

I think we'll tie with Saints on the opening day. They're going to be a strong, pacey and aggressive outfit who will press us relentlessly. 2-2.

I think we'll lose to Arsenal and Liverpool who will just have too much for us.

Then I think we'll draw 1-1 at Wolves with us taking the lead and taking advantage of their jaded start. Then they'll equalise.

So I guess that'll put 2 points on the board.

Nothing really to base a points hail prediction on yet. Need to see how we set off.

Today's win means the pressure's off at the Emirates,surely we're due a result down there.

Wolves might be distracted by their EL campaign as we were last year,can't see anything against the Scousers but we usually give them a game at the Turf.

It's amazing how important getting points on the board is for confidence,we got a great early win at Chelsea 2 seasons ago,and everything sprung from that.
