Lancs T20

With Leicestershire and Northants winning tonight Lancs place at the top of the table has been secured all the more with Durham and Birmingham being beaten.
Only five games to go now for Lancs and the next one being on Friday at the home of Northern cricket that is the Emirates Old Trafford against Yorkshire though the weather is not set fair.
Yorkshire are joint bottom of the league with the other teams having a game in hand.
As claret_till_i_die would say "Look up ********"

Is it greedy to suggest that we still need to significantly improve with the bat looking ahead?

I'm off to OT on Friday for the first time in a long time. Eng v SA in 2003 I think. Anyway, any advice on parking would be greatly appreciated.

Parked in the college just behind the Point end of the ground on Saturday. Cost £10, but straight out and away afterwards.
Hopefully those going and supporting Lancs have a great night.

Fantastic spell of T20 off spin bowling by the Leics captain earlier in other T20 news.
Depending on where you are coming in from, consider park and ride on the metrolink.

Don't park at the football ground. £20 and assume the money goes to Man Utd.
There is parking off Talbot Road for £5 and a two minute walk away but you may need to be there early as it's going to be manic.

Did you decide against it Dan?

Yeah unfortunately Ty. Change of flights etc too expensive, and spent enough time in airports / hire cars this week to be too creative. Plus as you said, weather is uncertain, and tickets weren’t guaranteed either. Enough factors to dissuade me.

It's live on Sky Dan anyway so if there is any play you can catch it that way.

Heaviest rain clears through by lunchtime so just a case off dodging the showers later. Hopefully

John - I was sat there at the last game when we had lost our first 3 wickets for 14 runs and the bloke sat next to me was from Notts with his son and he said to him "we have taken all their best batters out and they have nothing left"
In come Jennings, Maxwell, Vilas and Faulkner.
I think that most counties would swap their batting line up any day of the week for our t20 one.
Had we not had the world cup we would probably have had a game or two with Jos Buttler included also.
Top of the T20 and top of their county championship table, both by a significant distance.
They haven't lost a single game in either format.
All looks good to me.

This!!
Driving up from Devon at 8am. Taking my 2 boys to their first lancs game, stopping over in Manchester then on to Turf Moor on Saturday.
They have been looking forward to this weekend for so long, just hope the weather doesn’t spoil it.

Top effort.
The forecast is very hit and miss. We had very quick, sharp showers yesterday but they only lasted for around 5 minutes at a time and then we had sunshine for a couple of hours before the next one came along.
Get your lads to keep their fingers crossed on the drive up and even if the match is a reduced overs one they will love the atmosphere of a full house on both Friday and Saturday.

Lancs have few issues to resolve before the knockout stages. The quarter finals are scheduled while the Old Trafford Ashes test is on, so an alternative venue needs to be found.
Maxwell and Faulkner are due back in Australia for their state sides before finals day. Probably need the ECB to be accomadating with regards to Buttler as well, can see them wanting to rest him after such a long summer.

There's a few sub pros from county cricket this weekend so I'm sure at least one will throw a few down 80+.
A few tickets have been made available for the roses clash tomorrow if anyone wants one.

Gutted mate friday night - but at least we had a good win yesterday to make the drive home much more pleasant!
Im booking tickets now for the Leics game on Aug 30th, but the party stand is unavailable. Which of the other stands is the best for atmosphere please?

Livingstone was out for 22 ( 1 x 4 and 3 x 6). Now 77 for 1 after 9.

Coasted home despite being without Gleen Maxwell's services, that puts to bed the myth that Lancs are a one man band.
Those 2 points should ensure a QF spot,it's hard to split the rest of the North group, could be a real dogfight between 5/6 teams for the 3 remaining spots.
Sussex are looking comfortable in the South group, but again it's a proper scramble for the other QF slots.

How do you go about getting tickets for the quarter finals? Do you get them from Lancashire Cricket Club or the hosting venue?
Thanks

I think if Lancs win their group they get a home quarter final so you’d get tickets from Lancs.

Didn't someone say Old Trafford is hosting the Ashes Test Match on the dates of the quarter final?
Are the out grounds capable? Or we play away?

I didn’t know that.
Only out grounds likely to be capable would be Blackpool or Liverpool.
I expect we’d play away and surrender the advantage of being at home.
We could use Headingley, that’ll be free.

Following tonights results it looks as though Lancs may finish in the top two of the Northern section of the t20.
The scheduled quarter finals were to be played on Wednesday 4th and Saturday 7th September.
But there is to be a test match at at The Emirates Old Trafford between those dates preventing Lancashire hosting a home game on the given dates.
The final round of fixtures do not take place until 30th August which gives little time for those making the decisions to decide where to play Lancs quarter final.
There will be a great deal of interest so I would forget Blackpool or Liverpool for numbers sake.
It was four years ago today that we beat Kent away in the quarter finals and there was a mass of Lancs fans made the journey.
Headingley. No chance.
Sedbergh would have been beautiful but not big enough.
Watch this space.

I was there 4 years ago - great result but I remember there was some trouble later that evening in an Indian restaurant in Ashford. I think Livingston got into an argument and ended up with a cut on his face. Kent have a reputation for being one of the worst sets of supporters when it comes to acknowledging the opposition. I went to watch their first 20/20 this season against Somerset - a comfortable win in the end but there were long periods where the crowd were very quiet. Judging by the way Buttler is batting he may also be available soon.

Tonights game already called off as I suspect the vast majority will be.
