Guess it’s all relative. We’ve had a surprising number of players play for us who have at one time held the British transfer record the first being Bob Kelly when we sold him to Sunderland for a record £6,500. Other players who have gone for record amounts after or before playing for Burnley are, Tommy Lawton, Steve Daley, Trevor Steven, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne and Andy Cole.

yeah, would be interesting if someone could manage to work out it in a relative way - way beyond my mathematics capabilities !

I also remember laughing with disbelief when I saw a rumour about us paying £3.5m for Andre Bikey.

But Bob Kelly never played for us when he cost £6,500. Any who were a record after leaving us can't count.

Can't remember which game it was now but Moore should have scored in the first minute of a game at the Bee Hole End but failed to control the ball and I used the phrase 'dog with a balloon' in my match report. DavePTClaret posted on the board that on reading it he'd just spilled a cup of hot coffee all over his lap.

True, but presumably he was worth £6,500 when he played his last game for us as that’s what we sold him for. The other players were on their way up or on their way down when they played for us, Kelly was at his peak and for a brief time Burnley were on the receiving end of the British record transfer fee. For that reason I think Kelly is the (relatively) most expensive player we’ve ever had.

There's a young lad already amongst us who's value will snowball and eclipse any previous BFC transfer figure.

Selling him knowing he wasn't and actually got a few quid for him

How much were Akinbiyi's total transfer fees before we signed him....? (Does that count?)

Alan Stevenson was a record transfer fee for keeper when he signed about 50k + if memory serves. With Kepa at Chelsea 79m ? .......food for thought
