I was going to say Peter Robinson but for some reason changed my suggestion to Terry Cochrane! The fact that he was wearing a hat caused doubt. Looking more closely the player in question has a bigger ‘frame’ than some of those suggested.

I think we are on different photos. Peter Robinson is in the b&w and colour squad photos at the bottom of previous page.
I agree with a previous poster that the guy in the hat is Ray Hankin, the nose is the clue and the bigger frame.

Definitely Peter Robinson - scored a league goal against Blackburn. Decent player but moved to the Netherlands.

When Peter Robinson finished playing football, he returned to the North East. Where he has had a career teaching and recently retired.

Initially brilliant, even if it was basic football, but it had long lost its momentum.

Ray Hankin looks like he’s adjusting his grip for an off break or a googly. I bet he wondered where the wickets were when he ran up.

Alex Stepney, Jim Thomson, Francis Lee, Keith Newton, Ronnie Clayton & John Connelly.

Is one of the liners Gordon Lee? A top division one ref and a guy who was always listed as being from Leicester, but according to my dad was originally born and brought up in Waterfoot.
Is the ref Taylor, the world cup ref?

Jack Taylor not on photo.
Possible good shout for Gordon HILL. I believe he taught at BRGS before moving to Leicester. He did our semi against Newcastle Utd.
Guy with his arms draped around Sadler is Wilf McGuiness.
Gordon Lee managed our neighbours.

Of course I meant Gordon Hill, not Lee, who as someone rightly says was actually a manager at Rovers, Everton and Newcastle amongst others. My blunder.
