A warning for us all to stay off our phones during the game otherwise we may be asked to leave the ground

That's insanity. In the olden days before mobile phones were even heard of, bookies (apart from the stupid ones) wouldn't take bets on races that were within 30 seconds of start time. Instead of heavy handed nosy parkering, why don't bookies just make a rule that they won't take bets on anything within the next 30 seconds? If they're stupid enough to take best on something happening in 1 second's time, it's their own fault because they ought to know that it might be based on inside information.

So they can fund having undercovers at matches for betting infringements but not for racist ot homophobic abuse. We all know where their priorities lie

I read it, but how can you place a bet on a live event when bookies are there covering it to? You cant win unless there is a delay of over 2 minutes, which in this day n age is impossible..

Somehow it works for tennis, although you are talking milliseconds, according to the radio report, I heard, the other day.
Hence, 'Courtsiding'.

They bet on points. They had even worked out the quickest means of communicating, which wasn't by phone!

If anyone is obsessed with using their mobile phone I would think twice of visiting the Tim Bobbin or any other Samuel Smith pub.
