Do you remember where you were when you heard the King of Rock n Roll had died?
I heard it on the tv in the chippy at the bottom of Manchester Road, after a night out with friends.

I had a summer job in a factory as I was a student at the time. I remember getting up early and going into work. I got a brew and picked up the paper and saw the front page. I remember it clear as day.

I was only a kid. My mum sent me to the shop to buy the newspaper and I can still remember the shock on her face when I handed it over

Imagine having to wait to read a newspaper to find out news.

I was in the Hop with my basketball mates, when a guy came up and said Elvis was dead. The whole pub, and it was busy, tried to cram into the back room where the television was to try and see if it was true.

even though it was big news at the time, I failed to see what all the fuss was about. His music was dreadful, and little more than cheapo cabaret towards the end.

If you didn't see the role Presley played in breaking down musical barriers, and his contribution to popular culture at a young age 42 years ago, then that was understandable. To not appreciate it now, makes you sound rather stupid, frankly ....

how pathetic, any rational person can see music is all about perception and taste. Subjective is the word.
But because you liked him, then any dissenting voice is a stupid one .
He was popular, but that in itself isnt anything remarkable.
Your arrogance is ill merited.
