It will be the same as before regarding the squad for the game and you can't really blame our management team when we have higher priorities, though I would love to see us make a good go of the FC Cup.

Our squad should be perfectly capable of allowing the Manager to field a strong team tonight which would hold it's own at at least Chamoionship level.

This is the best Burnley squad I've seen and as above, I think we've got to the point where even a second string is good enough to beat most Championship sides and below. I fully expect us to go through, but be nice to also see a few players playing so well that it gives SD a problem.

No doubt people were saying the same thing before the Lincoln, Accy and Burton games.

I don't recollect our second string then being as good as it is now.

Can’t fault our 2nd string it’s actually quite an exciting attacking side packed with internationals . This don’t look too shabby at all
Hart
Bards long Gibson Taylor
Lennon Drinkwater Hendrick Brady
Jay Rod Vydra

It depends whether we put out a sensible formation with players in their best positions with an instruction to win rather than just to get a bit of match fitness into the legs.

Decent team for sure. I think that right now we have the strongest squad I can ever recall in my time watching the Clarets which goes back to the early sixties.

The difference tonight is 6 or 7 players should be desperate to get in the first team and will believe they should be.

There's no doubt that the second string is the best I've seen in my lifetime. Also their professionalism. Mind you, my first game was the Orient one. The days when a couple of hungover players would be in the team on a Saturday are long gone and I hope they never return.

Is it straight to pens if level after 90 minutes?

Yes, straight to penalties if drawn at full time.

Ability wise; yes. No doubt. It's has been the attitude and lack of energy/urgency that has been the recent problem in cup competitions. We never really seem to be 'at it'. Hopefully that will change tonight.

Problem is though the players playing tonight pretty much know Dyche's starting XI is set in stone no matter what they do. Unless someone gets injured he ain't changing it.

IMO ,there are several factors why we seem to be such a different side in the cup
We change the team and not usually have a deep squad with 2 players per position. ( this season we really do )
The players coming in know that regardless of performance they will still not be in the starting 11 until an injury or suspension to the player currently infront of them.
Sean Dyche stressed league is top priority, and this may effect the preparation and/or the players mentality.
Less time to prepare as Sean usually doesn't take training early in the week.
Doesn't really all point towards a club/team that wants to go as far as they possibly can in the cups.
However I think a lot of the fans are in the camp of "as long as we finish 17th or higher, they'd happily go out of the cups st the earliest opportunity"
So flops and poor shows are accepted or looked over.
Sadly I'm not one of them, so puzzles me.

They are professionals getting paid thousands of pounds each week. They should be giving it 100% and trying to put a marker down.
If the attitude is right then we will win comfortably.

It would be great to see some intent on progressing tonight. I really hope we look at this seriously. Years gone by have seen some clubs outside the cream of the crop take the cup.
Wouldn't Dyche want a cup win to add to his already impressive CV?

Thing is we all know how much Dyche hates making changes unless they're forced on him. So when he makes 9 or 10 of them for cup games it sends out completely the wrong message to the players, he's basically holding his hands up saying he couldn't care less.

It can equally be taken as sending out the message of, "This is your chance to show me you should be playing".

Or he could be seeing it as a rare opportunity to give fringe players some minutes whilst also resting the current PL starting XI before a game against one of the best teams in Europe in 3 days time.
As mentioned by others, the squad is now more rounded and we can actually put out a completely different XI to the last league match and the team looks balanced and easily strong enough to see off a League One or Championship side.

In the past seasons we’ve not had the depth in the squad.
Now we have 2 strong looking 11’s that should both be competitive

Without injuries our second XI could be:
Hart
Bardsley Long Gibson Taylor
Lennon Defour Drinkwater Brady
JayRod Vydra
Some would argue that's better than our current starting XI

Without injuries I'm pretty sure Defour would be in the first 11.

There's no reason we can't put an XI out tonight to win,it would continue the positive vibes that our start to the season has created.
Our cup record under Sean is dreadful, and this is the one aspect he needs to improve,we have plenty of strength in depth now,and with no EL distractions can surely give the Carabao Cup a go at least.

I’d wish we’d stick to the same line ups as we had against wolves with the exception of throwing in Drinkwater and Taylor.
I bloody love a good cup run.
