I heard that this was very likely when I was talking to a friend, who is well connected in the game, last Sunday morning at a local game.
He gave me a full breakdown of what may or may not happen and this was the first thing, mind you, it didn't take a genius to forecast this because Southend have had a terrible start to the season.
I await the next chapter with interest to see whether he is correct about that too.

Talking of rumours I heard from an agent of some lower league players that MK Dons are very close to going bang. EFL supposedly done more to help them this summer than they did with Bury.

Bond looked like a bizarre appointment from the outset. Given that there are only two slots realistically available it would highly careless to get relegated from League One this season. Without knowing too much about Southend thought they might have been a tad hasty in sacking Chris Powell.

I'm amazed he's 62. But I'm amazed I'm 65.

Bond was appointed last April with them in with a good chance of going down. He helped pull them round so they gave him the job on a permanent basis. It hasn’t worked out though given the start they’ve had.

It’s a half man half biscuit lyric.

(the line in question comes right at the end of the song)
Most (all?) lollipop men are fairly old. There’s not many old folk called Darren, but there will be before too long.
...and in explaining the joke, I’ve no doubt ruined it, but hopefully you get it now, at least.
