McNeil

I M not knock8ng the lad or saying he played poor today, but I couldn't make the Liverpool game so just wondered if him playing more central midfield happened then also? Time and time again he stayed central today rather than give an outlet out wide or crossover with Pieters, but plenty of times Cork covered the space where McNeil should have been so it was as if it was an instruction to Dwight to do this, just wondered if it was the same against Liverpool or just a tactic for this match?

Did you miss him running down the wing and crossing for the 2nd goal?
We go to a narrow midfield a lot when in front or under pressure.

A few were saying he's been quiter lately around us, but I put that down to 2 things

1. Peiters is less attacking than Taylor, so doesnt take a player away by overlapping time after time like Taylor does ( not a dig, as Peiters seems solid and I'm happy )
2. He's been noticed for last seasons contribution, so extra attention given to keep him quiet.

Thought he played well. Just the 2 assists, I think.

Westwood took the corner for the first goal

He is so much better wide left but most matches, at some point, he pops over on the right and does nothing. It detracts from what he has done on the left.

He does what he's told, you're criticising the wrong person.

Oh well, celebrating the win, being bought plenty by fellow footie fans. Cambridge, Gooners, Chelsea, L'pool, Newcastle.

Not a criticism by any means mate, he has it all in his locker, but he just seemed to stop central no matter what today so presume he had been instructed to.

McNeil is the best young player to grace the premier League.
He will go for mega money next season.

In all honesty I’ve been frustrated with the moans but I understand the development and I’m so excited by his potential as are the whole team! Trust me when I say all the first team players get so excited when McNeil Excels, they all know how exciting he can become !

McNeil was very good today. We won the game in the first 15-20 minutes of the game and McNeil was pivotal in this period. Norwich couldn't handle him when he had possession and when they had the ball his energy in pressing and closing them down was sensational. He wasn't on his own with this either.

It's very clear that at half time when we were 2 goals to the good, Dyche likely asked McNeil to move more centrally to strengthen the middle of the park. Norwich didn't really have wingers so we could leave more space out wide.

Today was an excellent team performance and McNeil was a real thorn in the side for Norwich.

Should have had another assist in 2nd half for Wood’s chance.
Great to see someone try to beat a full back. Doesn’t always come off but great to see.

That was superb by Dwight, turned his man inside out and looked up to pick a pass.

Yes. The calmness after the initial bit of skill was very impressive.

Dyche has clearly knocked any thought of creativity out of him.

He'll be playing full back for Blackpool in 3 years.

He charged past 4 bulls and crossed the ball in for Wood to put us 2-0 up.

I'll ignore the fact that there were no bulls on the pitch and point out that sarcasm clearly isn't your strong point

Played very well today IMO. Whilst he did move into central positions you don’t know what Dyche is instructing him to do.

I thought he got into positions today in which he could influence the game - not only with his crossing but also with his passing.

We always set up with the wingers narrow, but that also suits McNeil. He's a handful out wide and his greatest asset to us is of course his crossing, but he relies on trickery rather than out and out pace to beat a man (although he's quick enough) and quite naturally teams have begun to do more homework on him and to work out what he's trying to do when he's out wide. But fortunately for us and him he's no one-dimensional player - he's got lovely movement, an ability to find space and a good appreciation of a pass too.

It was never realistic to expect him to keep hugging the touchline without teams cutting off the supply line or failing to track him properly. So we're seeing less eye-catching contributions from him those areas (although the first goal today was a classic of that type), but if today is anything to go by, we'll begin to see more rounded performances of the type that I imagine over time will become his trademark.

Bulls? Aren't Norwich players called canaries?

Top player. Has a bit of Chris Waddle in him; not necessarily in playing style but in the way he always looks knackered. Think it's just how he moves.

The only concern with Dwight is that he tends to fade a bit in the second half of most games, though this is inevitable with the amount of running he is doing. But we now have Brady, Lennon or JBG to replace him when he tires so it isn't really a concern at all.

I’d love to see Dwight's fitness reports. He looks gifted in so many areas of his game but seriously looks down in his endurance and ability to make sprints. He is maximising his talent for sure but you can’t escape genetics. It may well be his limiting factor.
