We are investigating following a report of suspicious circumstances at Padiham Service Station in Burnley Road, Padiham.
We were called around 2.50pm today following reports a suspect device had been attached to an ATM machine overnight causing damage. (1/2)

Officers, as well as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, are at the scene and a 100m cordon is currently in place.
Enquiries are on-going and an investigation underway. (2/2)

If it was done overnight, why did it take 8hrs before the police were called?

To be honest, I'd let a gang blowing up a cash machine at a petrol station have a crack at it. Cant imagine them trying it again after their first attempt.

I'm not even certain there IS an ATM at that petrol station. I do know there was one at The Grove shop on Slade Lane and it was blown up and nicked recently.

Think it used to be down the side but you had to pay, haven’t used the garage in years though
