Think you could argue the “journey” started with the Orient Game, but I think Wrexham was a very significant staging post.

That Wrexham game was a landmark on our slow road back.
But think the big one after the Orient game was '88 v Wolves.
Two great old clubs packing Wembley out.

Yep, same here (well rarely tbh) and I agree with the above re the Wolves game at Wembley which showed that not only was there life in the club, but a hell of a lot of life with our amazing following that day. That Wrexham match though always feels very important to me as we suddenly went from 4th division also rans, to a team which looked like it had what it takes to rise head and shoulders above most, if not all of, of the others (and Wrexham were no mugs). It set jimmy Mullen on his way and we never looked back. (I WILL however add one very honest foot note. At that stage I was praying the board would look further afield to make an appointment to succeed Casper and felt if Mullen got it nothing much would change. After that game I did say "Oh, sh*t, we'll be bloody saddled with him now!" )

A number of games where you look back and put them in the significant category.

Wrexham away in 95/96 & Plymouth at home in 97/98 when we looked like going back down. Then Macclesfield at home in 1998/99. Had we lost that day, and we were 2-0 & 3-2 down, I’m convinced we’d have gone down.

Derby at home in 2003/04 when relegation looked likely and then Sheff U at Wembley which took us to a level we never thought we’d see.

I missed that game sadly but remember him scoring against Carlisle. It really does only seem last yesterday.

Great day out. I remember thinking ffs after going 1-0 down, but we soon turned it around. It was my best attended season only missing 2 games, Doncaster h, and Cardiff away. Them wert days.

They were possibly on the official club videos from that season but not Burnley Are Back.

I definitely remember seeing the Gillingham goals, Nicky Walker was the goalkeeper I think and looked pretty exasperated.

It is looking that way. They were on the official video but not Burnley Are Back. Was a consummate away performance. One of many that season. Lancashires was in the top corner if i remember rightly..matched the cracker he scored at Wrexham. I think ex Leicester keeper Mark Wallington (he of the big tache) was Lincolns keeper that day? He was a veteran even then. Good atmosphere stood on the old Sincil Bank too.

Bit late to this thread....

Lancashire's goal at Lincoln was a close range lob over the keeper whilst he was lunging for the ball, I think.... It was a long time ago but I was there with my dad (I was 11 years old).
