So as there’s no football on I’ve resorted to watching the NFL from the Spurs stadium

Now admittedly I don’t have a clue on the rules but its just taken 90mins to have 30mins of action

How is anybody able to watch this?

And in football it takes two hours to have about 50 minutes of action. Not so very different.

Like every other game in existence, if you don't know the rules then you won't enjoy it. If you want to get into the game, find a friend who does understand it and watch a game with him. You will at least understand the game then; you might still not like it, but at least you'll lose the attitude of "I don't understand it so there must be something wrong with other people".

Great game but best to watch the highlights when you don’t know the score. Tape the game and then forward through the stoppages....

I’ve never said there’s something wrong with other people for watching it and I admit I don’t understand it.

The only friend I know that watches it also supports them down the road so I think I’ll just leave it as something I don’t get

Just sit back and enjoy it.
You can concentrate on the offence & defence lines going man2man to create gaps or protect the QB.
Watch the wide outs making their runs to find space.
Watch the QBs movement in the pocket.
There is so much athleticism going on the last thing to worry about is the rules.
They just sink in over time.

There's a series on Amazon that follows 4 different NFL teams over the course of a season and it's quite good if you're new to the sport, gives a good insight.

It's the same people who did the Man City season follow.

There's also a show on Netflix about young Quarter Backs and again it gives an insight into what it's like in their school football system etc.

I know very little about it. If I was a (our) football manger I’d go over to the US and learn about NFL for their coaches knowledge. There is a lot to be learnt.

I find it strange that in our football you can have 50/60/70 thousand fans with better views of whats going on than the 2 managers.

This is what got me hooked. I always watch the Superbowl, and loved pressing all the buttons on madden in a blind attempt to win NFL games on the megadrive as a kid. But the Netflix series' following the rams and the cowboys were fantastic, and ever since I've spent too many internet hours keeping up with news and looking up players/drafts from college teams etc.

But I've yet to pick a team to support if anyone has any ideas. Anyone but the patriots of course.

Green Bay Packers - a small town, supporter owned club who punch way above their weight. Remind you of any EPL team?

Good shout. Didn't Burnley also used to play in green and white in the early 1900s?

Burnley games aside, I prefer watching it to football these days.

At this point there's an argument to say losing to the Redskins isn't the worst thing. At least it increases the chance you get first pick in the draft

My Redskins get win 1 after firing Jay Gruden. I was never a fan but the problems lie at the top. They will never be great again until Daniel Snyder sells and that’s not happening.

Just relaxing with the overnight Steelers @ Chargers game. No spoiler but a shocking start from one of them.

Absolutely. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it has to be a mid-term plan now

Jags lose again. Pretty hard to win games when you can't seem to score a TD though. Glad I was watching on Redzone rather than the whole match.

Looking good but we've had a fairly easy start in terms of opponents, and redskins are up next which we'd be favourites for.

The miami one is interesting. Not beyond belief that they went for 2 knowing they could throw the game having done the hard bit (and proved their capability to score) why go for two when you'd not conceded for almost a full half and had scored TDs on back to back drives??

Got to admit I thought it was a strange choice to go for the two but it seems to be the done thing. The Jags did it a couple of weeks back with exactly the same result.

Yeah, I guess the theory behind it is that of go big or go home type mentality. Would be seen also as not having faith in your offensive unit to "settle" for the extra point.

PAT's can be missed also and you're not guaranteed to win if you do go to OT so I guess this way of losing would be better than either of the other two. Especially if you don't really have anything to play for like the Dolphins.

i think that's the point in that the fins have nothing to play for so while they were on a role for the last 5-10 mins of the quarter they probably decided to go for it. In normal circumstances it'd be rare that would happen, although the fake is used sometimes, but the chances of getting 2 especially with a weak OL is got to be 20%, which makes me think it was part of the tanking plan

My Bucs have been a mixed bag so far. I like the D-Line but our secondary is awful and lets down the defence.

Jameis has stepped up in the last couple of weeks, so hopefully we can surprise a few more this season and squeeze into the playoffs.

Does throwing 5 interceptions and losing a fumble vs the Panthers really count as 'stepping up'?

Would say the Bucs are a long way off making the playoffs and that Winston is one of the main reasons for that.

Absolutely, if you only use stats and don't watch the game, it looks bad. He's been useless for most of his time here, but he has shown glimpses in recent weeks. That's my point.

The Packers for me too. Same reasons - small town club in the big boys league, locally owned, punching above their weight....
but they don't keep the powder dry. Quite prepared to spend big for the right players. Usually!
