What a day of sport lies ahead! Does it get any better than England vs Australia followed by Ireland taking on the All Blacks then saving the best `til last and the Mighty Clarets against Rodgers and the Crisp men!!!???

Hosting the World Cup over here has been an incredible occasion and we`re only half way through. Having the tournament spread across the country has got all the natives interested (helps of course that Japan have been magnificent so far allied to favourable viewing times) and it has been such a buzz seeing `rugby tourists` from all nations here in Hiroshima. Maybe all Olympics of the future should consider following suit and using the length and breadth of the country, benefitting the majority not just those in capital cities (Japan has been forced to move the marathon and 50km run north to escape the heat/humidity for next year`s Olympics).

Anyway, hope everyone around the world can take in today`s super sporting spectacles. Come on England, Ireland and the mighty Burnley.

May I ask if you actually live and work in Hiroshima ?
I only ask because I live in Wuhan, China and I am curious if there are any other "exiled clarets"

Indeed I do! I have been in Japan since 2006 (geez!!!).
Wuhan is the epicentre of Chinese mysticism and martial arts, isn`t it?

It looks like Japan have done a great job so far, things should get ever more exciting from here on in!
My baby daughter has given me a much longer build up to this game than I wanted but I can't wait. Lots of coffee and two brilliant matches of rugby to watch, especially if the first one goes the right way

Girls are trouble from Day 1 (especially for fathers!) I have a 3-yr-old and she`s wild! Enjoy your day and copious amounts of coffee!

3 years old does seem like a physically testing time My nine month old looked at me last night, pointed, and for the first ever time said "daddaa!" with a big smile on her face. So, she can do whatever she wants today (already got me round her tiny finger) I'll be popping her in her England rugby top in an hour or so and we'll watch it together.

Enjoy the atmosphere in Hiroshima! It's great that it's spread across the country so everyone can get involved. Especially since Japan are doing so well, fingers crossed they beat SA. I imagine that would really light the touchpaper over there

Oh I think she`s got you wrapped around her little finger way beyond today! It`ll be bonkers if Japan beat South Africa tomorrow - I`d say they have at least a 50/50 chance.

My 2 year old grand daughter watched one of the England games with me recently. It was difficult to explain that "Peppa Pig" was tired and needed a rest so we' should watch the rugby but it worked and she was good as gold
I was very fortunate to visit Japan on many occasions (1st visit 1972) and always enjoyed the experience. My favourite place was Kobe (Pre-earthquake)

I've only been here for 3 weeks, teaching everyday. Today is my first day of "rest"....I will be/am planning next weeks classes.

England were good but Australia were poor on the day. They are still a good side though. It’s a shame they made a forward pass for that ‘try’. Wouldn’t fancy us too much against the All Blacks but if anyone is going to dislodge them we’ve as a good a chance as anyone else. Surprised how Japan have come in in Rugby. I normally like underdogs beating the odds but I will make an exception with Japan.

Just as an aside, with these kick off times, it's certainly the most sober World Cup I've watched .....

No interest in rugby, but I have in Japan. Lived there for over 3 years in the late 80s/early 90s. It's a fascinating place. I don't think I could have settled there, though.

I thought the all blacks were on the decline,not on this evidence,they've been frighteningly clinical.

England played well today,but to beat the all blacks on this form,a massive improvement will be required.

The exact reason why I posted previously. He popped into my thoughts. I have spent some time in China so I can imagine the welfare of a `Johnny Foreigner` will not be high up the list of priorities. Japan is incredibly concerned about this as so many Chinese people either travel here during the New Year festivities or possibly worse, as so many Chinese people live here, upon retuｒning from family trip back to Japan, they might bring the pesky virus back with them. I remain convinced there was a quarantine exercise held here in Hiroshima on Friday...

Let`s hope it is contained sooner rather than later.

I live in Shanghai although I am currently on holiday in sunny Nelson. I've just been informed that I have to self-quarantine myself and my family for 2 weeks before heading back to work. I am guessing that this will be the situation for all in Shanghai with a significant number of people returning to the city from elsewhere in China and abroad.

I can confirm that MapinChina is in Wuhan city and confined to his flat/house as ordered to do so by the Authorities,apart from that he is well but bored..
