Completely agree
It was an f’in disgrace and the fact that someone is checking this and still making that decision makes it even worse.
It is ruining the game and if it continues I can take or leave watching it....which I never thought I would say in my life.

Agree it was a terrible decision. Especially as it overturned what was given as a goal (rather than giving a goal when it was ruled a foul on the pitch)
Too early to say get rid. it's make some good decisions and it's not like we didn't get **** refs decisions before. The painful thing is they had time to watch it back and still made the wrong call.

I tend to agree. It really hasn’t added anything to the game but judging ‘level’ offside decisions one way or the other.
The decision today was definitely the worst use of VAR so far this season.

That decision was dreadful, talk about IFFY decisions, that is the worst I've seen

I think its good on the marginal offsides, but anything that isn't clear and obvious shouldn't be changed.

VAR is wanted by the big six and it’s wanted by the TV companies. It is here to stay and will only get worse. The premier league isn’t dictated by what actual fans at the game wants, it’s dictated by what fans in the Far East and if they live VAR whilst they watch the primer league with their rice then it isn’t going anywhere. More VAR and more stupid kick off times is the future. And lots more bias and made up ‘fairy tale’ stories about how perfect and great Leicester city are.

No chance of them getting rid of it now. Would mean the powers that be admitting they've made a mistake.

the thing is tht even under the 'VAR' rules, its only supposed to overturn clear and obvious errors, which this wasn't.

I agree that it has been used well to judge marginal offsides. But the point I’m making is that those offsides are so close that I really wouldn’t mind them going with the linesmens call as they did before VAR. I was never upset if we conceded a goal by a player who was an inch offside.

I was a massive fan of VAR coming in.
I in my naive mind thought that it would be used to overturn obvious mistakes.
In fact it’s being used in positive discrimination against Burnley.
It’s a disgrace.
Court action should follow.

Moss could have looked at it but chose not to and let the men at Stockley Park make it easy for him

VAR can stay for offisides but nothing more they clearly don’t know how to use it. The rules around it are far to vague and unclear and complicated, if I am not mistaken it was brought it to cut out errors not create them the after mass of this and view of media on this will be interesting hope SD says it how it is in his interview and doesn’t sugar coat it.

Is it a single person checking the decisions at all the games or does each game have their own VAR ref
There should be a panel of ex players, ref & managers watching each game. At least then there would be some consensus

That’s the big one for me. If Moss disallows that goal in normal time as he thinks Evans was tripped then I’d accept it and chalk it down to bad luck. But we have had the ‘clear and obvious error’ line rammed down our throats for the past few months and there is no way on earth the decision to overturn that goal can be justified.

I think they must have discussed the use of VAR over the international break and changed the way they're implementing it. Villa apparently also had a goal disallowed for a foul today and I believe these are the first two instances of VAR overturning the on field officials' decisions apart from offside or handball.

I’ve mentioned a few times on here that if the officials don’t understand the game you have no chance with VAR...unfortunately that gets proven every week.
There really is no excuse for ruling that goal out for anyone that understands the game...

Could be, however, surely the clear and obvious rule should be applied...there is no way it is a clear and obvious error to give that goal

Edit: ignore me, moss was the on field ref, who correctly gave the goal at the time.

Honestly prefer watching my non league side now, purely down to VAR. I’ll still go to Burnley for family/ social reasons but the game with VAR leaves me cold.
And I was saying this before it came in, let alone today’s events. It’s just for geeks, stat weirdos and arm chair morons.

Moss gave the goal,VAR automatically kicks in when a goal is scored,so we can't blame Moss,it's the men watching the footage that fooked up.

I've watched it in slow/pause motion on you tube and as the defender is about to kick it away, wood catches his foot and stops him kicking it. From the angle behind the goal (youtube PL footage) it looks as if he could have cleared it, in that case VAR was right.
I haven't seen the action from side on. If the ball was beyond him, it could be claimed to just be a clash and irrelevant. I'd need to see that angle and stop motion the action.

I travel all over the country spending what money I have following this team. To then get screwed by decisions like that when it's supposed to give correct decisions really sticks the knife in. Really like the idea of VAR but the execution is a joke

One needs to see it from side on to be sure, but from the PL youtube footage Wood appears to stop a realistic possibility of clearing the ball.

Moss has the opportunity to check the pitch side monitor to review his decision.
Saying that I’ve not seen any referee do that yet this season

Side on view here. The ball was accelerating away from Evans and no way he catches it 'trip' or otherwise

I've only seen the video but Wood only touches Evans as their paths cross, Evans keeps his feet, realises he's probably not going to clear it and falls over, it's called cheating and it worked for him today. I said from day one I don't want var, not just because of today but it's killing the flow of the game.

I've taken me out of the equation by saying that all the data to make a decision is on a computer and it's for the computer to make the decision i.e. the speed of the ball and it's trajectory at the moment of contact.
This season fouls have been given AFTER the ball has gone, so on that basis no goal. I think that is wrong and needs to be addressed.
Steve, have a look at this! I'm making an artwork called Aquarium Cafe. I took a photo of a smashed glass window front on a shop in town to put it in my picture. When I studied it further, there was a picture of a crook-type in it. I've changed the colour a bit to make it stand out, but other than that it's there, like an 'Elvis seen on toast' phenomena etc.

BBC stats suggest we were worthy of a point today. 4 points between 12 teams says how important it is to get these things right.

No i haven't seen any PL referees check the monitor,i have seen refs in other comps do this, but for some reason the PL officials are averse to this.
Can i clarify who makes the final call is it the on field referee or the VAR referee, today Moss allowed the goal, and then appeared to be overruled,so it's not very clear who's ultimately responsible.
