Is there anything better?
Discuss.

Yes, there is. Proper cask ale fresh and well kept. Now a rarity...

Its damn, damn good. Pilsner Urquell is my favourite of the mass produced ones. Found some excellent brew pubs when I've been Prague as well doing a decent range of beers. The food goes well with it as well, proper drinking tackle

Yes, German beer (if we're going continental).

I had a pint of it in Carnivoro in Burnley the other week, either the lines hadn't been cleaned properly or the beer was old and it had a sour taste to it which was a shame.
The bier house has Bernard pilsner and dark lager on all the time, the dark is amazing, very chocolatey

Was it tapped properly? With the brass drums? That's how it's supposed to be done.

Czech beer, in England is DEFINITELY not the same. None of em are. Its not even a cliché. Guinness is better in Ireland. And Staropramen is definitely better in Czech Rep.
Beer here in most pubs is shoite!

FYI Albert's Schloss in Manchester has traditional Tank Urquell driven over once a week and so SHOULD be the closest thing to how it is over here. Ive not had it there myself, mind

I have. Many times. It’s immense, especially when they serve it in a frozen glass. £5.40 a pint though.

I love a Belgian beer in smaller quantity.
Cask Ale by the gallon on an away day.

Staropramen in the UK is generally the UK brewed charlatan. Saying that, it's rare you'll find many Czechs who would state a preference for it. Alongside Krusovice and Lobkowicz, its probably the most common reserve beer if the others are off for some reason.
My current session beer is Kozel 11 degree which weighs in about 4.6%
Polish beer tastes good, but its invariably rocket fuel and to be handled with care haha

Never liked Staropramen over here, it's a little bit syrupy and sweet on the aftertaste.
Totally different taste in Czech Republic, its like a different beer entirely.

I never had staropramen when in Prague because the british version was so poor, assumed the Czech one wouldn't be much better. A local told me it's the czech equivalent of Carling. Tried it in Bratislava and was pleasantly surprised.
And yes, the Albert Schoss Tankovna is amazing, just like drinking it in Prague, just a shame it's about 5 times the price
