He’s resigned at Morecambe and set to take over at AFC Fylde. Dyche moves up the list! Let’s hope he gets to number one.

Does that mean he is in contention for the Morecambe job?

I think Howe’s position at Bournemouth is as safe as SD’s at Burnley. Can’t see him being sacked even if they were to go down. I guess there’s a chance he may leave for a bigger challenge if one were to present itself.

Statement from Morecambe today

“It is with great reluctance that we have accepted the resignation of Jim Bentley today. Jim has stated his desire to take on a new challenge and it is only right that we honour his wish after the service he has given this club.

“He has been an amazing servant for us as player, captain and manager and has deservedly gained a fantastic reputation throughout the game for what he has achieved with the club. We cannot thank him enough for his contribution to the club over the years and it goes without saying he will always be welcome at the Globe Arena.

“Jim’s name is synonymous with Morecambe and he has always had the very best interests of the club at heart, playing and managing with great pride, honour and integrity and he departs with the best wishes of everyone connected with the Shrimps.

"Our efforts are now focused on appointing a new manager as soon as possible and that process starts immediately, with a caretaker manager to be announced later this week.''

 Has he resigned to take on a new challenge or is it because Fylde probably have more chance of being in League 2 next season than Morecambe (and Fylde are 6th from bottom of the National league at the moment).

Hadn’t realised Challinor had gone. Been a huge part there and very close with the owner.

Couple of weeks ago, and he'd been there seemingly forever.

The #1 on the list is arguable. Ainsworth was only temporarily in charge until after Dyche was appointed.

But confirmed by Wycombe that it was from 24th September 2012 even if the first few weeks were as caretaker. He’s very much number one now despite a number of clubs trying to get him recently.

Surely not even Morecambe would consider him would they?

I read last week that Bentley has never paid a transfer fee for a player during his 8 years in charge.

not very attractive or haven't got the finances to attract any real quality applicants so sadly they will have to take a punt on a unproven manager or a desperate one

Remember Alex rae harvey being offered £200p/w but turned it down as it was a massive pay cut on what he earned at Barrow at the time

Interesting that the top 12 serving managers now include 6 Premier league managers

Dyche up to number 2 now then in regards to permanent managers.

Some achievement in this day and age.

Despite Stan serving 6 years and Sean 7 we have still had six mangers since Waddle left in the summer of 1998. I think Cotts did 3 years and 4 months OC did about 2 years and 2 months Laws 11 months and Eddie 1 year and 9 months. Sean must be the longest post war manager for us after Mr Harry Potts.

Four early names linked are Kevin Nolan, Stewart Drummond & Kevin Ellison, Darren Kelly and Dave Challinor.

Isn't he behind Ainsworth and Howe?

Unless you mean PL managers? :?

Only Howe in front of him for permanent managers.

Ainsworth wasn’t permanent until 8th November.

Nah Bolton could easily be in Morecambe's position in 10 months not 10 years.

At risk of taking pernickitiness to the level of an extreme sport, that's 5 names, even if it's only four potential appointments. ;)

No he’s third. Ainsworth’s official start date is 24th September 2012, ahead of Howe & Dyche.

If you say so.

Like I said last time, it’s odd that nobody told Ainsworth himself.

I thought I would be caught out with that, my fault for not explaining, Drummond and Ellison will be as a joint management team.

I would find it ludicrous if Dwight Yorke was not interviewed. I am sure he will be texting the chairman right now.

If we lose to Sheff Utd on Saturday and make it 3 in a row, I'll drive Dyche to bloody Morecambe myself!!!!

Be a long press conference when they unveil him as anyone who has had to suffer his post match interviews on Radio Lancs will testify!

Amazing is that, did a good job just keeping them up every year, probably the right time to move on for both parties.
