I wouldn't mind, but I've seen much worse tackles than that without that sort of dive.

Amazing how tackles were governed. I was watching Premier League years 2002/03 not long ago, and some tackles then that would be an instant red now didn't even get a yellow.

Imagine if the likes of Bamford were up against Roy Keane, Vinnie Jones, Ben Thatcher now adays. They'd be diving so high they'd be flying with the birds above.

Not just that though, Tony, the game has gone soft. I have always thought that it was VAR that was concerning me, however, I now realise that it is the way the game is going that is grating with me. I have become very disillusioned with a game in which I have been involved for almost 70 years! I know that I am not on my own in this respect. Very sad!

The PFA seem to get away without having to address the cheating that is ruining the game. I’m governed by the rules of conduct of my institution - why aren’t ‘professional’ footballers?

Why don’t the FA just admit we now have a non contact sport. Any contact is now a foul. Then we can all pack our bags and find something like rugby league or union to watch.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread, blood pressure on the up, I can't abide.... touched on the ankle in the box fall to ground = penalty, touched on the ankle outside the box =just get on with it, shirt pull in the box = no action, shirt pull outside of the box and slight touch on the shoulder = yellow card and player rolling around on the floor. How coaching staff teach all this type of stuff also raises my BP as opposed to coaching staff educating players that Football is a contact sport ffs. Plus stop holding your face when nobody has touched your bloody face at least when you watch the egg chasers contact is contact! Nurse pass me my Ramiprol....

Loved how he managed to somehow throw his legs into the air on contact which though a foul was the merest of clips. While we’re not quite up there with the foreigners were not that far behind Harry Kane is a huge embarrassment and the likes of Dele Ali , Lingard ( same person ?) and that at Man Utd who enjoys simulating serious brain trauma . I’d have them horsewhipped

It said something like minimal contact for the penalty, Im fairly convinced the clubs are teaching these lads to dive.

Absolutely. He went down like he'd been shot in the chest. Sadly there was the slightest of contacts and so most commentators will say something along the lines of 'he was entitled to go down'.......

Bring back the contact sport I grew up enjoying.

When Coleman got sent off the other day it was a correct decision but if McNeil landed on his feet and just rubbed his head better would he have been sent off? He had to lie on the floor for a few minutes. That big Villa lad tried it with Ben Mee too (is there a #metoo joke there somewhere) but did it terribly.

With most of these dives the thing that annoys me most is the eyes closed mouth open "AAAAH" face.

What an absolute tool this guy is, thank heavens he never did it while he played for us, having said that, he never got anywhere near the ball to try it out, his manager should ban him until he learns to respect the game.

I was looking at the German press sports webpages this am, largely to see what happened at Hertha v Dresden but took a look to see if there was any rugby WC coverage. There was and there were a few readers' comments saying people had enjoyed watching the games and how refreshing it was that you didnt see the feigned injuries /play acting.

Have been pretty much convinced of that for roughly the last 15/20 years from some quarters.
Certainly over the last 10 or so, where it seems to be the norm now.

Roughly the time Money really took over.

I'm a member of a professional body, and if I lied or cheated to try and do down a fellow member of my professional body (or anyone, actually) the professional body would do its damnedest to see me pay the price. Saw a striker in a French match a few weeks ago get a penalty by kicking the bottom of the defender's foot as he was clearing the ball. I think it was given for a high boot???

What baffles me about this Bamford dive is how apologetic he was when he did it against Villa in May. He clearly hasn't learned a thing, the little cheat.
