Looking for advice on a short Tenerife holiday, please

I'm looking at going to Tenerife for a short (solo) break in mid December and I'm looking for advice on where I should go/stay.
Also, I might hire a car for a day or 2 to do some sight seeing as well. So some advice in this would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Probably away from the crowds. By that I mean not big on the night life scene (partying), so somewhere fairly quiet.

We go to Calleo Salvaje .
It’s quiet, there are two hotels.
Several places to eat

If you want a quieter trip, try the north of the island - Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz in particular.

Mum and dad always used to go Adeji (spelling might be wrong) they love it just a short walk to the busy area but itself it apparently nice and peaceful.
Note they always went Dec,Jan so might be a good option

But not the sunniest part of the island

Costa Adeje, los Gigantes, La Caletta all nice. Quiet nightlife but plenty of bars.
Drive up to Mount Teide. Car hire is really cheap - about £10 per day on carrentals.co.uk

El Medano would be my suggestion. More of a Canarian town, close to the airport and the TF1 for exploring. Accommodation cheaper than the resorts but still plenty of restaurants.

We go to Costa Adeje regularly, it’s not full of clubs like Americas but only 45min walk if you want that. Fanabe/Torivicas are great locations for all ages groups.
If those two resorts are too busy- La Caleta, fishing village with a number of fish restaurants/couple of bars, also the sunniest resort on the island. If you like walking the hippie beaches are not far over the hill with loads of little tracks called Spaghetti beach, nice walk beyond to fishing village with one restaurant and back 4/5mile.

we have been going to el medano tenerife many times a year for20 years...El medano is a great shout ,its full of local resteraunts with top class food , probably the best natural beach on the island , however its one of the main windsurfing/kite surfers resorts in europe so expect wind ....
good trips out from here are
ANAGA NATIONAL PARK near the capital santa cruz (40 mins drive)
mount teide (1 hr)
peurta de la cruz (1 hr)
masca (45 mins)
santa cruz (capital 30 mins)
also if you time it right cd tenerife may be at home ,a great night out to watch the football, easy to get tickets around 10 euros and with the ground being in the capital good atmosphere with gates around 9k to 14k

sorry forgot to say ,hire the car from autoreisen on line ,they are at the airport and there is no ripping you off when you take it back like a few of the others try to do , also the cost of the car will be virtually saved as you wont need a taxi to and from your resort...

This 100% nails it. Best place in the south of the island.
