Our club has no money, its got it's strong beliefs
The fans have no power, but we've got our strong beliefs
Our players have no fame, but got our strong beliefs
Oir club has got no money, but we've got its strong beliefs
Want more and more, people just want more and more
Now I am in love with Burnley Football Club
thats all we are devoted for
Free from desire we will show the Premier
League
Free from desire our players what we are fight for what we believe
Na na na na na

That's sh!te. Honestly. It doesn't scan right. What tune would you sing it to?

William McGonagall, the crap poet of Dundee, would have been proud of that one.

Let's just make it nice and easy for the coked up lads in the Cricketfield

We're so skint it's unbelievable (repeat until you need to visit the bogs for some more powder)

Ye Sons of Mars, it gives me great content
To think there has been erected a handsome monument
In memory of the Black Watch, which is magnificent to see,
Where they first were embodied at Aberfeldy.

And as a Highland regiment they are worthy of what has been done for them,
Because a more courageous regiment we cannot find of men
Who have bravely fought and bled in defence of their country,
Especially in the Ruusian War and Soudan War they made their enemies flee.

William McGonagall

Or for those depressed souls that think that the end is nigh and that the club can do no right we could go for for something along the lines of (to the tune of "bring back my bonnie")

We used to sign players to play football
but then all their wages got high
so now we just sign freebie cloggers
and that's the ball there in the sky.

William Wordsworth wrote: And to the left, three yards beyond,
You see a little muddy pond
Of water - never dry
I measured it from side to side:
'Twas four feet long, and three feet wide.
You don't need to be a McGonigall to write this sort of stuff.

Nice one. Change "players" to "men" and it scans perfectly.

Perhaps the chorus:
"Bring back, bring back,
Oh bring back Chris Waddle to me, to me,
Bring back, bring back,
Oh bring back Chris Waddle to me."

We played stylish football under him. No goals, but stylish football. ;)

Be happy with anything as long as it isn’t singing about anti-football. Yes it was a funny dig after David Luiz’s comments but we genuinely do play anti-football and it isn’t nice to watch so don’t understand why we continue to ironically sing it unless it’s changed to us showing our frustration at it.

I like it. We have a terrace anthem right there. Simple, catchy and pokes fun at ourselves / the negative perceptions of us. Classic Burnley :D

It was the bassist in my old band (a Dundonian himself) who drew my attention to McGonagall, the 'world's worst poet'. He showed me some of his work and it is so bad it is brilliant. He was so hated by his fellow Dundonians that they pelted him with rotten tomatoes whenever he tried to recite his poems. The painful scanning and strained rhyme are actually a joy to read because of their awfulness. The pinnacle of his awfulness is there for all to see in his The Tay Bridge Disaster. Give it a go, you can find it on Google, it is excellent (in a really bad way).

Oh thought you were categorising the whole stand.

I'm not down with the kids, or familiar with the meaning of knuckle dragger so cannot possibly comment, although I'm sensing it not being complimentary.

I do sit in there also, noticed you a few times but not this season I dont think.

Having bided in Arbroath I offer you William McGonagall Poet and Tragedian.

On yonder hill there stood a cow,

It must have gone,

It's not there now!

Works in both a Scottish accent and English!!!

Well, it's a phrase that's cropped up plenty of times on this board that's for sure.
Fwiw, I've missed three home games, I can't believe you missed me v Villa, I was the guy ten rows back, next to the stairway, gently rocking back and forth with my head in my hands for most of the game.
Over it now, though and ready for a win tomorrow !

Yeah I see it posted a lot of times.

I didnt see you, you should have given me a big wave.
I was the guy leaving in tears at 84 minutes, a leg of lamb was In the oven, and as feared the wife had started butchering it before I'd made it home...

Was still delicious though.

Paul Weller did have some strong words about us though on the radio on my travels back.
I pulled up just on full time which was great timing

Safron we sing songs from the sixties
Not that i'd start to try to establish a song cos we virtually are none entities all though i did enjoy the Ingsy Ingsy Vokesy Vokesy
In reality though we are quite repetitive when we roll ours out we seem to stick to what we know.
When other Prem fans ring out there songs you have to say that sounded **** hot at times

My understanding of the Anti Football chant is that it's humorously used in an ironic way after a good passing move by our players or sarcastically after we create a chance from ..er ...Anti Football. There's a bit of frustration in the former but I suspect a lot of satisfaction in the latter in that we can upset the big spenders.
