When ever anyone does a poll on the greatest drummer, it was always who finished second to Neil Peart. Not a Rush fan but he couldn't half play. RIP

Was a superb drummer who was not only technically excellent but his excellence suited the songs without being overblown.

I wore my 'Hemispheres' tour badge with pride on my school blazer, the rock equivalent of the henna beard at the time.

Magnificent drummer in a magnificent band. First saw them on the Farewell to Kings to tour in Manchester 1978 and then many times since. RIP Neil, so much more than ‘just’ a drummer

Just heard this. Such an awful shame. The guy had more bad luck than most with family stuff.

Never missed out on the promise of adventure with his bike trips latterly and back with his daughter now....

RIP legend.

Couldn't call myself a big Rush fan. However I admired Neil Peart as a great drummer and the driving force in band. May he RIP.

The best band of all time (imo of course) are back with a tour next year. Great news and no doubt will be a classy tribute to the late great Peart. I think they’ve left it the right amount of time tbh and it will be brilliant to see some of the wonderful tracks played live again. Let’s hope they add a UK concert or two to the initial set of gigs, or maybe in 2027 is more likely.

Will be interesting to see how Anika Nilles gets on as she takes on the task of filling the great man’s shoes.

I’ve gone on the presale list for the MSG New York shows , seen them 35 times since 1978 , best band ever IMO seen them in Florida so it will be a trip over the pond

Yep definitely pretty good but we were pretty good in the championship many times. The prem is a different beast. I reckon she’ll do well though as they have been rehearsing already 🤞

Mate, she's more than pretty good. That's some technical stuff she's getting through in that vid, as well as the ability she's got a great touch.

There’s no way they would do this without a good idea from the rehearsals they have done already. Another 8 months and it’ll be amazing no doubt 👍

I think Rush have two claims to fame - best rock/prog drummer in his time albeit there are now far more great drummers: Mangini, Harrison, Carey, Portnoy, Katche etc

Stevie isn't Willowdale where Rush are from....?

I've done a fair bit of recording at times with PZM- a pressure zone mic. It's flat, and usually sits on the floor (or a stand) and is kind of a non- directional catch-all. Can be really effective.
Anyhow, Peart allegedly played with one strapped to his chest.
