It's the equaliser. Scored by Dobson, made by Coates...

Two and half minutes from the end.
But, which game?

Tough one that but if it was at home I would definitely have seen it and if it was away more than likely at that time.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:08 amTwo and half minutes from the end.

Too easy that one.
Could that be away at M'boro in 1972?. 1-0 up, then 3-1 down but fought back to draw 3-3.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:30 amToo easy that one.
How's about this?
"With the two big men from defence up there, Waldron and Thomson. Dave Thomas trying to get it over and, it's Dobson with the third goal"
Good shout, no cigar !Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:33 amCould that be away at M'boro in 1972?. 1-0 up, then 3-1 down but fought back to draw 3-3.
You're too good at this game. I'll have to get Spot out with his "Shadowgate" imagesSilkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:39 amHow about Villa at home 1972, won 4-1 early season. Andy Lochhead playing for Villa.
Don't know if l it's right, but I was on Ayresome Park that day. Great comeback, but the neanderthal locals were the **** of the earth. Hated Boro for a long time after that.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:33 amCould that be away at M'boro in 1972?. 1-0 up, then 3-1 down but fought back to draw 3-3.
Edit: Just realised Thomas had gone by then so not possible
Perhaps the FA Cup defeat at home to Wimbledon in Jan '75 ?RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:54 amOK... last one from me.
"Flynn, Newton, James, Flynn, Thomson. Referee allowing advantage and Hankin with a chance. Point blank save and, again, and he's got it then!"
Wasn't that 1-0 to Wimbledon?Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:30 amPerhaps the FA Cup defeat at home to Wimbledon in Jan '75 ?
Struggling with this one. Away at Coventry in 1975. Won 3-0 and could have gone top in March that day had Arsenal beaten Everton.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:54 amOK... last one from me.

What an amazing coincidence - I have just posted about that game on another thread - literally. I was there at that one. It was my first ever away game watching the Clarets.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:25 amHelmshore Claret has it. Jan 24 th 1970 at Stamford Bridge, FA Cup 4th end.
Was it Everton home, '74 (or '75) when we were a goal down well into the second half (Latchford) and then we scored 3 times in 3 minutes to win 3-1? (Amazing scenes as thousands of previously singing and dancing Evertonians suddenly left the ground en mass!)RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:54 amOK... last one from me.

Mate of mine went. Missed the first goal because he was late then decided to get a 'flier' when we were 3-1 down with just a few minutes left. Astounded when he heard the full time score on his car radio.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:08 amDon't know if l it's right, but I was on Ayresome Park that day. We stayed till the end, if it had finished 3-1 it probably wouldn't have kicked off the way it did. It was worth it the smoggy b@$^%$@ds.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 5:10 pmMate of mine went. Was it Liverpool at home 1-1?
No. Not Everton at home.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 4:53 pmWas it Everton home, '74 (or '75) when we were a goal down well into the second half (Latchford) and then we scored 3 times in 3 minutes to win 3-1? I'll try Old Trafford away in The League Cup about '73 (ish). We were 2-0 up in the second half and managed to lose 3-2. Seems keeping 2 goal leads at OT has always been an issue for us!!RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:54 amOK... last one from me.

Surely... but wrong! Ooooops!Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 9:43 pmThis really is a tough one, but there were a couple of games in March '75 in which Ray scored. A 3-3 draw against Arsenal and then the following week a disappointing 2-5 home defeat against Derby.
Surely has to be one of those games.
Your logic is slightly out. It was Coventry away BUT we won 2-1Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:07 pmIn the following season '75/'76 Keith Newton, Jim Thomson & Flynny played in virtually all of the games but Leighton James left us for Derby early in Nov'75.
Prior to James leaving Ray Hankin scored in two of the games, away at Coventry and home against Wolves. We lost both games. Is it one of those?
This was in the days before internet, mobile phones etc. Didn't know result until MOD. Was at my then girlfriends house, watching. When the equaliser went in, I jumped up and landed back on the sofa and broke it. Much to the dismay of her mumRalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:08 amTwo and half minutes from the end.

May be wrong, but that was the first game I remember 'No Nay Never' being sung on the Longside.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:39 amHow about Villa at home 1972, won 4-1 early season. Andy Lochhead playing for Villa.
Four cracking goals from us with 'Chico' Hamilton scoring theirs. Highlights the following day on Granada with either Gerald Sinstadt on commentary or even possibly Martin Tyler ...... but it wasn't live!dougcollins wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:01 pmMay be wrong, but that was the first game I remember 'No Nay Never' being sung on the Longside.
And you opened the scoring, Doug. 3mins could have gone on the early goals thread. Surprised you had time to listen to the Longside.dougcollins wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:01 pmMay be wrong, but that was the first game I remember 'No Nay Never' being sung on the Longside.
