That run in the second half from almost our own box, to look up and pick Rodriguez out.
Outstanding.
Very annoying that two of the best pieces of wing play I’ve seen, that and the Wood header against West Ham have given us no goals.

McNeill was brilliant for the last 25 minutes and JayRod should have wrapped the game up, without doubt.
Where was McNeill before that though? Their FB had him in his pocket for most of the first half.

I think since he "burst onto the scene" when he was extremely offensive and direct, he's kind of been put in a "stick or twist" situation. His natural game is going forward and taking people on, but so much of our overall game week in week out as a team is played without the ball and he has had his defensive responsibilities spelled out to him. At times he looks like he's a bit caught betwixt and between.

He is looking even better central. Where he is on the ball more and can test the keeper. As he did two or three times today.
A few called for him to move inside and thought it was a daft suggestion at first. But increasingly looking like he could end up there.

The lad has talent and I'm seriously considering him being better than Glenn Little and Robbie Blake. He looked to have grown a few inches today as his running stride seemed a lot further.
Worth the admission money alone.

Perhaps he did but McNeill kept plugging away and in the end had him on toast

Apart from Pope and Vydra, all our players were in their pockets.
As for Dwight, he's just a delight.

I wouldn't say he had him in his pocket, it was more that they came out all guns blazing
and working extremely hard to close us down quickly. Consequently he had more defensive
duties to perform. Once they tired, this opened up more opportunities for him to get forward
and start to play a more attacking role.

McNeil is better than Blake.
Glen Little isn't fit to lace McNeils boots

A sumptuous second half display topped off with 3 pieces of brilliance; the pass to Rodriguez after running 80 yards, the curling effort that came back off the post, and finally his goal in which everyone in the stadium could see what he wanted to do but no Bournemouth player could stop him.
Technically he's absolutely outstanding and you never ever think he's going to lose the ball, no matter how many players are around him. I was worried last season that he'd be easily found out, but this season he's coming inside now and looking even more dangerous.
I'd love to see him play centrally one day, on the left of a midfield three or just ahead of two sitters.

He does look the part when he comes into the centre.

Glen Little was my absolute hero when I was a kid but McNeil is and will be on another level to Little.
He’s a seriously special player and I just think we should enjoy watching him whilst we can.

From about 60-70 minutes into the game his body language suggests he looks shattered but then always without fail then goes on to carry on creating.
Really exciting player who I think we’ve got under contract for another 4 (?) years? You’d think the clubs that could afford him wouldn’t want him just yet but I’m sure there’ll be interest from those outside the top 6 who have owners with deep pockets. I think the ‘market leaders’ as Dyche calls them would be happy to sit tight and see how he develops through next season before making a move.

Rodriquez should be devastated that he didn't finish that pass, it was on a plate for him.

There's no panic from our POV.
Like I've said before, if he makes the England squad for the summer that could add more to his price tag. Especially if he plays and does well.

Negative comment about a very good young player. Where was the whole team that first half? Waiting for half time so they coukd kick with tge wind and slay tge Cherries. McNeil was superb.

Vydra, JayRod and Westy were all good in both halves but they didn't get much help from McNeill. Late in the second half he was brilliant, as I said. Nothing negative at all

He should be with us for next season at least, especially if we can offer European football
He is already worth a fortune and will be worth more after next year and an England call up. A lot of teams know about our threat down the left, and so nullify the left, as this stops us playing. This is why as a team we can improve hugely by bringing in more attacking threat down the right, as McNeil can shine more. He swapped with Hendrick after our second and was equally comfortable cutting in from the right, and Taylor can offer the width down the left as Hendrick tucks in. I think we should utilise the swap of wings more often, as Dwight is obviously a goal threat cutting in onto his left foot, and when teams block the left hand side it allows us to play.

He was so quiet that before the 65th minute he had one assist and had delivered the cross that won a crucial penalty, and might have won another pen from another cross in the first half. If that's being in the pocket, zip him in.
He was wonderful in the last 30 minutes though. Came inside and just ran the game. I'm convinced he'll be remembered as a ball playing attacking midfielder in the image he showed in the past half hour today, rather than as an out and out winger.

He was absolutely brilliant today, particularly the last half hour. It will be interesting against Spurs because he was our best player at their place in the 5 nil game (except him not taking Son out)...should hopefully give Mourinho something else to moan about...
I fear we will be getting firm bids in the summer from top 6 teams. Hopefully we can finish in Europe and fend them off for now....

When the bids come, I suspect they might be from better teams than our top six.

His body language is one of frustration. I have watched him closely & he wants the ball to be played quicker. His head goes down when the rest of the players aren't on his wavelength.
I really hope he stays but can see him going for huge money this summer.

Once Bournemouth committed themselves and the space opened up, they simply could not deal with him. Outstanding footballer.

I'm reminded of Ralph Coates with a lot of Dwight's play, except, obviously, a different build.
And, I don't think I can offer praise higher than that.

Toss up between him and Vydra for MOTM,but i plumped for Dwight as he impacted the game more, and on another day could have scored more than one,and also if our finishing had been more clinical he'd have added to his assist tally.
Burnley's Dwight McNeil (20 years, 92 days) is the youngest player to reach 10 Premier League assists since Raheem Sterling (19 years, 335 days) in November 2014. In fact, McNeil has both scored and assisted in the same Premier League game for the first time in his career.
That's some company for Dwight to be in,however he's still developing, and he will have games where he struggles to affect the play, but he's a heck of a talent, and when he finally moves on it'll be a record transfer fee for Burnley that's certain.

If we ever go 5 in midfield against City or Liverpool away he should play the number 10 role. Drive, Can run with the ball and Can Shoot. Keep Jeff on the Wing

Its great to see Taylor and him down the left. I do think McNeil is definitely our best technical player and will end up playing inside. He has a bit to learn though still when on the ball in a tight situation. But thats minor he is fantastic. Vydra and Rodriguez have more mvement and pace than Wood or Barnes and that opens up areas for him to run into or pass into. Just wish JayRod could finish better from close range!!!
