Interestingly, both her and jezza backing RLB to take over... more of the same policies for the labour party despite them being comprehensively rejected at the ballot box.
This was always the danger in the old guard sticking around after the heavy defeat.
Labour needs a complete rethink, and a rebirth. For the good of the country if for nothing else.
Definition of madness.... doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

With her & Corbyn gone, Labour might actually start going forwards. Unless of course, that Burgeon chap gets a shadow cabinet post.

Corbyn hasn’t gone. By the sounds of it, he’s still gonna be influencing policy as he’s touting for a senior position in the shadow cabinet. And with Rebecca Long Bailey a younger version of him but with tits, nothing’s gonna change anytime soon in the Labour Party.

Sorry. Pedant alert
That is the often quoted definition of insanity, not madness (and also incorrectly attributed to Einstein)
However, chaos theory states, with huge amounts of evidence to back to up, that if you do the same thing over and over again, you should not be surprised if they yield wildly different results
I'm not sure the labour party can fathom this tho. They are just bog standard chaotic

I wouldn't worry, on current showing Priti Patel will easily fill the void. The interview where she didn't appear to know the difference between terrorism and counter-terrorism was a good start.

She was diagnosed in 2017 with a "serious, long-term" illness. She suffered badly from her type 2 diabetes during the last election run-up, whether this is in addition, I don't know.
Still, something else for some of those on here to take the pi$$ out of her for....

I'm more concerned about our current Home Sec. She was previously sacked for running her own foreign policy and what came out this weekend, with regards to our security services, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

I’m a lifelong Labour supporter and I cringe every time she is on TV.
She’s a liability and also a hypocrite...and I know most politicians are but she has an unerring talent for putting her foot in it through a complete lack of common sense. And I know she is well educated but it honestly does not come across as so.
I do believe she is not well and of course I wish her well with this but this is not a case of her coming across like this just in the last couple of years - it’s always been the case.
All that said I am fully behind her manifesto pledge of extra bank holidays - it’s just a shame she chose the 46th of August and 38th September.

Yet she still doesn't make an effort to lose weight, despite having previously claiming to have found the cure for Britain's obesity problem.

Abbott denies attack on nurses was racist
"LABOUR MP Diane Abbott yesterday defended herself against charges of racism after criticising the appointment of ``blonde, blue-eyed'' Finnish nurses at her local hospital.
Writing in her local paper, the Hackney Gazette, the MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington said: ``I am sure that these young women are charming. But they are basically here to improve their English and are unlikely to give the British health service a lifetime's commitment.''
Her comments were seized upon by the hospital, nursing unions, and politicians, who accused her of avoiding the real issue of staff shortages.
Ms Abbott later said: ``The issue is not one of colour - the issue is that people should not be recruited from overseas in an area of mass unemployment.''
However, nursing unions and the hospital - which has written a letter of complaint to Ms Abbott -were annoyed that she had written of her surprise that the hospital had chosen
``blonde, blue-eyed girls from Finland, instead of nurses from the Caribbean who know the language and understand British culture and institutions''.
Ms Abbott had added: ``And are Finnish girls, who may never have met a black person before, let alone touched one, best suited to nurse in multicultural Hackney?''
Senior nurse Eileen Farragher said 20 Finnish nurses were expected in the new year to bolster the 30 nurses already at the hospital. They would be joined by eight to 10 nurses from South Africa, totalling about 4% of the nursing staff, she said. ``Her comments are very disappointing because she didn't seem in any way to understand the facts of the situation.''
She added that a nursing shortage had hit London harder than other areas and forced them to look abroad for help.
Representatives of the Royal College of Nursing have written to the Gazette and called on Ms Abbott to try to reverse the nursing crisis."

Well done Ringo, you went back to a story in a Scottish newspaper from
24 years ago to find that. I think that's desperate and disgraceful even by your standards.
