What kick starts your day,be interesting to see what time you rise and the breakfast habits of the slightly older Clarets on here...mine goes a tad like this,5.30am walk with the dogs, back to bed till about 9am make a brew for the wife, back into bed for a catch up on here, get up about 10.30 ..a brew, banana, apple and a bowl of cereal.....then back out with the dogs for a longer walk.....morning ends ;)

Today (and yesterday) Black pudding. Does the job. Love the ones that you should 'simmer' (horsehoe) but I break them up, bit of oil, and fry in lea and perrins, salt and pepper - unreal!

Dad swears by eggs (or weetabix!). And have to agree with him!

Love this bud. You get up, take the dog out, come back, go back to bed, then make your wife a brew - all before it gets daylight up there at this time of year. You're a star mate.
I get up at around 7am, ignore the dog, make a brew for me and my wife (and my daughter usually), let the dog out into the back garden, let him in again, make my lunch, get ready to go to work because my wife hasn't allowed me to retire yet, have some breakfast (usually cereal or porridge during the week - no fruit - too early in the day) then drive about 20 minutes to work. All in less than an hour and a half.
Sh!t Steve, can I swap lives with you, you've just depressed me.

Cereals and banana, or sometimes nip up the road for a bacon butty and an Americano.

And can I just say it's nice to read something on here that isn't the pathetic squabbling on the CV thread!

I wake up, fall out of bed. Dragged a comb across my head. Find my way downstairs and drink a cup and looking up I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat. Made the bus in seconds flat. Made my way upstairs and had a smoke and somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

After that, I got the munchies and had a large bacon and egg butty.

Pop the bread in the toaster.
Pan on the hob until smoking hot hot hot
Butter thrown in. More the better.
Eggs. Several, about 4
Thrown them in the pan without shell obviously
Pan of the heat
Butter the bread which is now crispy toast
Put the eggs in the top
A large sprinkle of pepper

Cup of tea on the side, in a cup not on the plate

Lovely.

Breakfast is the greatest meal of the day. My greatest times have been having breakfast in a foreign place. Los Angeles, baking hot weather pancakes, bacon, maple syrup and blueberries.

A pot of very strong coffee and a couple of cigarettes, always having ensured that there's an open cigarette packet before going to bed; opening one in the morning before those first caffeine and nicotine shots is just too much like hard work.

Have to admit one of best I had was in California. At San Diego in Mexican part at a Mexican restaurant. Spicy omelette.

I'm a creature of habit.
Up around 0700hrs most mornings.
Downstairs to make a platter of fresh fruit (Banana, grapes, kiwi fruit, pear, satsuma, raspberries etc) for myself and her Ladyship who has her's in bed.
Cereal with Soya milk or porridge with honey.
Glass of fruit juice.
Slice of toast with honey.
Cup of green tea.
All eaten on the kitchen table whilst reading a magazine such as "Moneyweek", "Whatcar" or "Which."

Years ago, on the other board, I complained about the mess it made trying to get Weetabix out of its packaging. CT suggested that having porridge instead would solve the problem. I found the idea of facing a bowl of glutinous grey stuff first thing in the morning quite repulsive.

Then recently (just before Christmas) I spent some time in hospital where I just wanted food that would slip down, so one morning I asked for porridge. I loved it. Just porridge, nothing added. Now, at 7.30ish each morning, that is what I have - just porridge, nothing added, followed by a cup of coffee. It starts the day off right.

I should have trusted you, CT.

Up at 6.45
Feed the cat.
Make 2 fresh coffees.
Make 2 slices of toast with honey.
Give one coffee to the wife who has just got out of bed and is preparing to leave for work. (She doesn't eat breakfast!)
Go back and sit in bed with me coffee and toast and say terra to the Mrs.
Read me book for 30/40 minutes and check UTC.
Get up and get ready for the gym.
Gym for approximately 75 minutes.
Home, shower, banana and second fresh coffee. (Only 2 in any one day!)
Day begins........

Exactly the same at weekends, but without the bit where the wife gets up for work and no gym on Saturdays IF I'm going to an away match. Home matches, no problem and still in the pub by 12.00!!!

Porridge is the choice all dietitians will give you. Most cereals are loaded with sugar and salt.

Scrambled egg on brown toast is good to get some protein in early doors.

Porridge cooked in milk (no water), with crushed blueberries, a sprinkle of salt and then a drizzle of maple syrup. I quite lack it when the porridge ‘catches’ (burns).

I do similar, except i toddle off to lands end,get myself a jam an cream scone, then jump on a vacant seat on a tandem that is heading for lancs. Easy peasy.

I don’t eat breakfast. Usually don’t eat anything until 1pm. I have a few coffees to keep me going. That’s why it’s known as the least important meal of the day.

I only have a bowl of cereal (usually something like Kellogg's Extra) and a glass of orange juice. I can't stomach most other things so soon after getting up. However, when I'm on holiday I can eat anything - funny how that works.

I'm tempted to start being a bit healthier though so may try out porridge as has been mentioned quite a few times in this thread.

Porridge is especially good in winter as a hot cereal I'd use semi skimmer milk for maximum health, I usually eat kippers on a weekend for breakfast their are quite healthy.
