He’s given away a penalty. It happens when you’re a defender.

Ben Mee's been a great servant for us,but he is prone to the odd error, his big drawback is his lack of pace, but you can't question his commitment to the cause.

Gutting to concede like that. Feels like a loss.
Sure Mee will feel the same. But he does have these moments.
Gutted.

After watching it back, I think the Spurs player would have had a good chance to score from there - Ben did all he could and was a very fine margin too slow

The amount of times Ben's turned in MoM and near Mom performances I can forget the odd gaff.
One of the best and most dependable CBs in this league.

Ben Mee, was outstanding AGAIN other than the penalty. It took Spurs bringing on a couple of players that cost more than our entire team to get anything.
We are punching way above our weight and Ben Mee has been one of the main reasons we continue to do so

Agree with this. Been a top player for us, does occasionally have a wobble but if he didn't he wouldn't be playing for us. A disappointing penalty to give away, but not the end of the world.

From the BBC:
Man of the match - Ben Mee (Burnley)
Despite giving away the penalty Ben Mee was a rock at the back for Burnley as he prevented Tottenham from scoring more

A real proper shocker from Ben. And he knew it at the final whistle.

Just watched it back. Wasn’t a pen for me when I saw it live from the JHU, in line with it, but clearly was watching it back. Pamela played for it good and proper.
Annoying as there was otherwise cover and don’t think Lamela would score from there.
Mee was otherwise outstanding.

I thought with all the replays that it was a pen, but just watched again and I’m not even sure if Ben made any contact. Can someone do a frame by frame for us all to get worked up about.
Even with the slightest of touches Lamela managed to kick his leg out as he went down to emphasise the contact

He was leaving a leg out waiting for the challenge. I thought he’d missed him live. Looks like contact to me now. Soft one, either way.

I've no gripes with Ben over that, it happens. He's been bloody outstanding for us at times this season along with Tarky. As for the comment about him lacking pace, yes we all know that but his other many qualities outshine the odd mistake. Incidentely if you want to replace him with a player of his quality but with more pace you're probably looking at £40 mill plus.

Soft penalty. But a penalty nonetheless.
Ben Mee is a legend. Doesn’t deserve stick. He has limitations. But if he didn’t city would’ve kept him.
Him and tarks were brilliant.

Logged in to congratulate this post. Sense spoken
Edit: I’ve watched it back and I can’t say it’s a stone wall penalty either.

Ben Mee doesn't have a big drawback. His little drawback is lack of pace, if you like. I mean, ultimately the knock against Ben Mee is that he isn't Virgil Van Dyke - but then again, who is?

Just to prove we have a large amount of bellends in the crowd on the turf in the Jimmy Mac upper the lad behind me spent the second half shouting how Mee was the worst defender he’d ever seen and a bloke in his 60’s walked down the steps at the end telling everyone around him Chris Wood was a lazy *******.

I really don't know how anyone can criticise Ben Mee. He taught Keene and Tarky how to play CH and his commitment to the cause is second to none.
OK, he gave a penalty away but CHs do. How many of the pens he's conceaded were because of someone else's error just before?

Who’s looking for a scapegoat and for what? Plenty of reasons why we only took a point from today's match.
Simple fact is that he will never be an England international and he has gifted to the opposition not for the first time this season. It was a p1ss poor penalty to give away.

John Stones.
Phil Jones.
Harry Maguire.
All play for England and all of them have looked like accidents waiting to happen, given away stupid fouls, get skinned etc.
Might as well just be honest and say its simply because you don't like Ben Mee.

Maybe it's because it happened in the game that we've just played, or is that a bit difficult for you to get your head around?
It's got sweet fa to do with the service he's given our team, it simply was a poor penalty to give away. It's a comment on the action of one of our players in a game I've just seen.

Probably a 100% accurate statement.
I would add for balance “with a silly mistake after being rock solid for the rest of the game”.
He’s good enough for us but is clearly not good enough to rise any further, not a big deal. I have only ever criticised his distribution, not his defending, though against the big six this season he has had a few shaky moments.

Yes..that's exactly it. I cannot get my head around why, after watching that cracking game and terrific performance from us, the thing that you are moved to highlight for everyone is a mistake, which we all knew about anyway, evidencing that in your opinion Ben Mee isn't good enough to play for England.

A guy who loves the club, is an amazing servant to the club and to a large extent epitomises the club. He's brilliant in so many ways, but doesn't play for a top 6/7 club or for England for a reason. He can be absolutely fantastic, but sometimes makes the odd rick. That's why we have him and tbh, I'm glad we have him because he's still miles better than MOST other PL defenders.
