Genuine thread this one, if as is suspected a lot of us catch it we can post tips, support, genuine advice, be somewhere to moan and groan on and celebrate when you're better. Also if you are in an area and you need genuine help perhaps other Clarets can rally round ?

3 people have tested positive at my place of work,they're self-isolating,and the email to staff is that currently we report for duty as normal,unless of course we're displaying corona symptoms,i'm not due back til Tuesday,so it's possible the advice will have changed,just have to keep checking my inbox.

According to official figures, as at 9am yesterday there were 6 confirmed cases in Lancashire from a 1.21m population.

Remember, 90% of folk will have a slight cold, approx 8% will feel proper cr@p, and 2% or so will be in danger. If you’re generally healthy then you’re in the 1st 2 groups. Keep calm.......

In you’re in the last group then you have an underlying health condition and so you (should) know the dangers here.

I would have thought most over 65s have an underlying medical condition of some sort

Mikel Arteta is certainly is in the 90% camp,and in normal circumstances he'd have carried on working,but he recognised his social responsibility,hence his self-isolation.

Now i'm well aware that not everybody will have such mild symptoms,but it does suggest that the vast majority will recover fairly quickly.

This is one of the main reasons for the government's thinking in trying to shield the over 70's as much as possible,as clearly they are the main at risk group.

Most people of working age need to continue as normal as possible,obviously as long as they're feeling well they should go to work,unless home working as an option,if everyone downs tools then the country will collapse economically.

The phrase "underlying health conditions" is being trotted out to almost imply that those most at risk are the people already knocking on death's door, but also includes conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes which many of us receive medication and treatment for.

Is this 100% confirmed ? If so that’s a very very high amount to test positive within a work space , the spreading potential is huge .Presume the whole site is self isolating ?

It's not a normal workplace i''m employed by a university,so we are open to the public,mainly students but we do have some access to the general public.

The latest info we've received is that the campus will remain open,but exams won't take place in exam halls on campus,they are still finalising arrangements.

And it's likely all lectures will be cancelled from tomorrow,the plan is for students to get course materials in electronic format,i guess the idea is to minimise the number of people on site,but still remain operating if possible,closing the entire campus will only be a last resort.

An employee at my father's workplace decided to report as normal this morning,despite suffering from a fever,of course they were immediately sent home,but why aren't some of the public heeding the advice,which has been in place for several days,it's clearly falling on deaf ears for some reason.

Another one of his workmates did take the advice,and they've rightly self-isolated,as they were displaying corona symptoms,so at least some people are paying attention.

Problem now is they are not testing everyone. So number of confirmed cases are irrelevant.
Any signs of a cough etc do the decent thing and hide yourself away for a couple if weeks

I tend to envision the younger ages (below 65) with being overweight and diagnosed with borderline/start of diabetes more than older people and this is a worry as it is supposed to be bad when combined with the virus. I'm personally amazed all frontline Health Workers in hospitals weren't prioritised for testing.

Been on my daily link call.
One colleague has a yes please of 38.5 as does his 3 year old.
3 people went home with symptoms yesterday.

Sounds like this thing is getting around.

I think we'll stop staff services on Friday,but that's not been confirmed officially.

I had a phone consultation with the duty doctor at my local health centre (Clitheroe) yesterday. When I described my symptoms he said I ‘most probably’ had Covid 19. He said I was the 6th patient to call in describing similar symptoms and a couple of his colleagues had it. Surely, It’s everywhere.
Started with really bad headaches and onset of muscle fatigue and not being able to get out of bed. Then more feverish - chills and sweats. Last night had the feeling of what I’d imagine ‘cold turkey’ to be like (maybe I shouldn’t have watched the miles Davis documentary!). Metallic taste at the back of the throat.
Now into the 4th day and I’m up and about enjoying some fresh air in the garden. Largely kept things at bay with paracetamol and lots of fluids.
It seems a lot of cases nosedive into the 5th day, but some people get better. Hopefully the latter in my case.
Touch wood, I’ve experienced far worse, but if my recovery continues I’ll still want testing so I know 100 percent that I’ve had it and can get on with helping other people in the community as the situation is bound to ramp up.

My mate over Whalley way has it currently. Massive fever described as 'sweating like a glass blowers arse' but freezing cold. Other symptoms much like Cubanclaret, he thinks today or tomorrow is the crossroads where he either recovers or takes the other fork in the road. So fingers crossed.

Make sure he's aware of the advice of not using any NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen.

One of my relatives who's currently in hospital has been tested,and the results came back negative,he's in his 90's and was showing symptoms,mainly pneumonia like conditions,so that's the good news,he's still likely to be hospitalised for some time,but he's hopefully on the mend.

Did you have the cough? And if so was it dry?

We've had a guy in and out of work last two weeks including a three day spell in bed. Everything fits but he has (in accordance with the advice) discounted this virus because his cough has been phlegmy. You didn't mention the cough?

This is a good thread to keep things in perspective. So far in the week since it was stated, we’ve had one poster who was told he “probably” had it.

I work for a national company of around 1000 employees and there is one confirmed case, up in Scotland. But that’s it.

- The cough hasn't been a big issue for me, but note the official NHS video says cough OR fever.
Another day on and I feel I'm definitely coming out of it, I had more sweating last night but a much better night's sleep generally, and I have my appetite back which is always a positive sign. While I haven't been tested, I think the doctor had a good handle on it and I think I should be grateful for what is probably quite a mild dose. The fever symptoms and extent of sweating / chills are not common of seasonal flu, and I have had the jab for that.
I have a colleague at work who I have been comparing notes with and sadly she has more persistent symptoms, chest pressure and shortness of breath. It does seem to come in waves and she has more of it today whereas I feel like I have a hangover, still a bit grotty but functioning fine. I have an underlying heart issue (having had a valve replacement 12 years ago), so I am very grateful to not have had any undue chest complaints.
I have since noted a number of other people in Clitheroe have been reporting the same symptoms on Facebook etc.

Winston - I'm sure more users of this board must have been coming down with it, surprised people haven't checked in here but I did have to search out the thread a little, as I couldn't believe I'd be the first one, but in the thick of the virus, the last thing I wanted to be doing was going on screens.

I do hope I can get tested, I believe they are hoping to introduce a test that can tell you if you have had it, even when you have recovered, this I think, is paramount, to help get the world turning again. I obviously want to test my family too, as they have all been OK so far. Albeit, I have been keeping out of their way.

Is aspirin considered to be NSAIDS? - lot's of people take a daily dose if they have had heart problems in the past
