Up the Clarets Hall of Fame

Given there is little football to write about, I thought I might introduce the Up the Clarets Hall of Fame and would like your thoughts on who you think should be inducted. The only criteria is they must be ex-Clarets and can be dead or alive.
Not sure how it will work just yet but over time we can build up a hall of fame of some of the most iconic players to have represented our club.

Ian Britton. The smallest man on the pitch rose highest when it mattered in THE most important game our club has, or ever will play.
I will also add the manager that day, Mr Burnley. Brian Miller. When all around him were losing their heads.... Also 12 months later he became the only man to walk out at Wembley as a player and manager for us.

One unsung hero is Tommy Cummings. After our near demise, in 1987, he led the campaign for Burnley to rise again.

Well I knew Tommy well and he was a good bloke but as for leading a campaign for us to rise again, no way. They used his name as much as anything because he was chairman at the time of the Ex-Clarets, but the whole campaign was run by Jack Butterfield.

You can rule all three of those out - they don't fit the criteria

Tripps, parky, eyres, Britton, Wade and Dyche would be amongst the first inductees for me I'll let the older people decide on who should be there from the pre 80's teams.

I think Harry Potts also appeared as a player and a manager at Wembley in 47 and 62.

Well Chairman of the Ex Clarets says something and using one's name and giving interviews to rally folk, is a leadership role and if Mr Butterfield did lots of work, too, then thanks to him as well.

I wasn't suggesting Butterfield for the hall of fame, just that he run that campaign. But in what way wouldn't he fit the criteria?

Tommy Cummings was my idol in the 1950’s and he continued to be a stalwart into the early 60’s. He was not an “unsung” hero in his pomp - it is just that so few people remember him at his best. His goal against Newcastle remains my favourite.

If Sean Dyche doesn't fit the criteria, simply revisit the criteria.
Oh and perhaps add Barry Kilby

The mid-late 1970s were my formative years - a mixture of good and not so good but there are several stand-out players from that era - trying not to duplicate those already mentioned:
Alan Stevenson
Keith Newton
Leighton James
Tony Morley - not with us for that long but thought he was a real talent and achieved great things with Villa

I think Brian may also have been the surprise omission on the "Our Turf Moor Heroes" photos at the ground.

He didn’t get anywhere near enough votes. I voted for him and he was the only player I voted for who didn’t make it. The six players chosen from that group were Willie Irvine, Ralph Coates, Frank Casper, Leighton James, Martin Dobson & Peter Noble. O’Neil was 8th behind Andy Lochhead.

Fair play. Looking at that list O'Neil would certainly have been in exalted company.

Tommy Boyle appears higher up the thread but can I add George Halley and Willie Watson to complete perhaps the most famous half-back line in our history. Maybe also to consider other players than Alan Brown within the "Iron Curtain" defence of 1947.
CT, is there a maximum number you have in mind for the Hall of Fame?........Unsurprisingly I think 29 of the 31 "Our Turf Moor Heroes" round the ground have been put forward on this thread.
