Bit harsh. Saturday afternoon is not a time I usually listen but no issues with her when I do happen to hear her.
6music has been going downhill for a while now.

6music should be pulled - BBC has to cut back somewhere, and here it is

It's been poor for the last couple of years. At times it's like listening to Radio One with a smidgeon of Radio 2 mixed in. I'd completely jack in listening to it if it wasn't for Marc Riley.

It needs to go back to what it was a some years ago. Cutting-edge new music mixed in with little heard gems from years ago - the sort of stuff that makes you sit up and want to find out more about a band or genre you hadn't heard before.

I would normally say “this thread is useless without pictures” but it’s Liz Kershaw, so it’s actually useless WITH pictures...

Lamo' needs booting.
He's played the same old 15 or so records for decades ...
Yet finds ever increasing more time talking about them.
"Steve - I saw Blur and Elastica in Camden you know" ................. Yawn!
&
Mary Anne Hobbs - grinds my gears.
A 55 year old using terms like "lifted from...", "Dropped", etc and waxing on about music in a vacuous way. She's a spoof / parody surely?
They should have gone first.
Iggy, Rad Mac & Guy Garvey are all good.
Some Nemone also.
A Couple of others are OK too.
For me it's being spoiled by the guy at the top who changed the show orders etc eg Rad Mac moved.
His biggest mistake / issue for me was a policy of an increased and forced A / B / C playlist policy like on R1 (which is basically promoting - especially of artists that then feature on 6 music live lineups - like a members club).
Should have sacked him!

Agree HunterST_BFC...the changes to the daytime schedule have been disastrous. Keaveny's droll style and dead-air intervals were fine on the breakfast show but his moving to the afternoon slot and displacing Rad Mac..which was always an interesting and engaging listen..has been a disaster imo. Agree with every word you say about Mary Ann Hobbs too....as well as her unlistenable personal style the outer fringes of her taste (or rather her "attempt to appear uber cool" I suspect) are just tedious.

I liked Kershaw.
Cannot stand Shaun Keaveny personally but it's still a decent radio station, even if it needs a good bit of surgery.
RadMac at the weekends, especially on Sunday when followed by Cerys Matthews are a treat.

6Music is a shadow of the station it was several years ago when it was spared from the axe (or at least spared from being re-branded Radio 2 Extra).
Ironically, thinking about it, the way it's 'cutting edge' has been lost and it's promoting of stale presenters like Shaun Keaveney and Steve Lamacq, it actually has just morphed into Radio 2 Extra.
To be honest, barring Iggy, I barely switch it on now.
Maybe we're all just getting older?

I’ve not come across a better music station. I like Laverne and Mary Anne Hobbs in the morning. Keaveny isn’t my cup of tea, I preferred it when Radcliffe and Maconie did that slot. Lamacq is awful.
I only listen during the week but also enjoy it when Nemone, Craig Charles and even Tom Ravenscroft (despite his voice) step in.
The playlist can be a little repetitive but at least there’s a broad range of genres - and of course, no adverts.

I like Saturday morning with Huey Morgan, but agree about some of the other presenters. It's still better than the other stations though.

I have to disagree with most of you. Some of the presenters don't do it for me but its just about the greatest thing in the world at the moment. I'd say over 95% of all the new music I've bought or new bands I've seen live I heard first on 6.

Will miss Liz K. Long term Saturday afternoon feature when decorating the house or whatever.
They need to boot Riley / Maconie / Radcliffe/ Lamacq as they are so past their best and irrelevant to anyone under 40.
Don Letts plays brilliant tunes on a Sunday night.

The presenters really aren't the problem with the station at the moment. The daytime playlist is absolute bobbins. Evenings and weekends, when i tend to listen more is still ok though.

As a lover of Black Music there is little to no point in me listening to BBC Radio however my wife tells me that there is a Burnley fan on the Wireless now. Is he on this channel.

Hard to imagine this is the station that people fought to stop from being cut just a few years ago.

Lamaq is absolutely awful, as mentioned above it’s the same records he plays over and over again. We get it mate, you like 80s and 90s indie.
I don’t think the new line up has done the station any favours, having Lauren Laverne on in the morning doesn’t work for me, I think her show was much more suited to early afternoon.
I do like Huey and Craig Charles though

I wasn't keen on Rad & Mac. Found them to a bit too Smashie and Nicey for an afternoon slot, but by god I'd have them back like a shot. Keaveny is the dullest of the dull. Also, I don't like most of the music he plays. In fact, the 6Music official playlist is a saving grace when he's on. At least Rad & Mac would play stuff I hadn't heard before - like obscure garage bands from the 60s and fringe stuff from other decades. Keaveny is just too pedestrian.

The changes made to 6music as part of a BBC box ticking exercise were criminal. How Mary Anne Hobbs gets near a microphone to broadcast is beyond me. Her soporific tones are made for a counsellor's couch, not the radio. Moving RadMac from their slot was also a major error, just because they didn't tick the box. I love listening to Riley, a show where I've discovered new bands and then gone to see them.

But who said 6Music is just for the under 40s ? ...I'm well beyond that but am a long term listener. Radcliffe & MacConie are a good listen imo . I understand the point about Lamacq but, as I like 80s and 90s indie too I don't mind him (and that isn't all he plays).

Radio 2 in the morning, Jeremy Vine if it's interesting, then 5Live, then 6music. I cant stick commercial radio - repetitive adverts, music and presenters who try too hard.
Though, using my Amazon Echo, I do dip into some obscure American Stations for a couple of hours sometimes.

I don't think it's as good as it was but there still isn't a better station out there that I've found.
The rejig didn't help, I don't think any of the changes were positive and the one that really needed to go, Lamacq, is still there.

I don't listen to radio anymore, but I do use radio playlists for updating spotify. I find that Radio 6 has a lot of bilge in it's playlist, but the odd gem. It's very similar to Radio X's nighttime playlist in that respect. I think my problem isn't Radio 6, it's that 'cool' music isn't seen as being guitar based anymore, so there's very little out there that really appeals to my tastes. The flip side is that other radio stations that focus on guitar type music are far too middle of the road and play popular indie music from the 90's most of the time.

Give KEXP online a go. They play new (guitar) bands doing none-standard stuff on there. It's a US Seattle based public radio station and I've even heard UK based bands on there that have never had a look in on 6Music.

Unfortunately, the awful Liz Kershaw and equally awful Amy Lame will be back in the schedule in the future.
It isn't what it was but 6 music is about as good as we have as a radio station.
Gilles Peterson is consistently one of the best shows on any radio station worldwide.
The weekend shows are better than the week, especially Huey, Cerys Matthews and Craig Charles. Now playing is decent, easy listening as well. I love Mark Radcliffe but don't get up early enough to listen to him at weekend.
Mary Ann Hobbs show is the best of the daytime stuff but how Lamacq is still broadcasting remains a mystery. Defo has compromising photos of the controller. "Call in and tell us about when you went to a gig with some mates once"

Lamacq is hands down the worse. When I’m driving back from work I time how long it takes for him to mention the 90’s. Doesn’t normally take longer than 5 minutes.
His phone ins are also terrible. “Go through your record collections and pick out your favourite artist that starts with the letter G.”
He’s like an Alan Partridge caricature.

Shaun Keaveny is the best thing on the radio IMHO
Mary Ann Hobbs however is dire, who else in the world talks like that.... Even in the 70's
