Just had a 'rummage' and borrowed a couple of tracks. Think we're different generations but notice you have 'Wild World' by Cat Stevens,.a.song that I always associate with the start of.my full time student days in Sep. 1970. Notice you also have 'High Hopes' but by Pink Floyd. High Hopes was one of my favourite songs as a boy growing up.but by Frank Sinatra. Very uplifting song apt for.today. I have a couple of playlists, one with just general favourites from down my many years and the other a compilation of.tamla, soul.and northern soul. Happy listening and stay safe.d[-_-]b wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 8:54 amBeen on Spotify since university days and got into the habit of making seasonal playlists with my favourite tracks. It recently hit 10 years so I combined those into a separate playlist which you can listen to here:

Be warned - there's 851 tracks on there currently! All sorts of music in there, if you've got some time, have a rummage through!
I'm always on the lookout for new music too if you have a playlist/suggestion?
The one song which I always associate with student days is Band of Gold by Freda Payne, just because it was number one when I first went to Uni.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 11:16 amJust had a 'rummage' and borrowed a couple of tracks. That's right CT so you first went to Uni in Sep.70 like me. The reason I mentioned Wild World is that another student in a room opposite me in halls was constantly playing it on his record player.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 11:19 amThe one song which I always associate with student days is Band of Gold by Freda Payne, just because it was number one when I first went to Uni.

Would that be 'turn, turn, turn as covered by The Byrd's (taken from Ecclesiasticus)?LeadBelly wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 12:24 pmI dont do Spotify. My kids know how much I'm into music & think I'm mad for avoiding it but I still like to buy cds and listen to them whole a few times, read the inserts etc.
On the subject of associating certain tracks with early uni days - I frequented the Union bar quite a bit between lectures and evenings/weekends and there were a fair few tracks that were played a huge number of times on the jukebox, a few of which I always associate with that time.
Man of the World by (pre middle of the road) Fleetwood Mac
"Days of Pearly Spencer" by David McWilliams.
"White Room" - by Cream
"Turn, turn, turn" by Mary Hopkin (it being in Wales- I have a vague recollection of a Welsh language version of this too).
Glad you found a few you liked. That's what Spotify is great for, sharing and collaborating. I've got quite a few ongoing playlists with friends (some I prefer than others!). I still prefer to buy CDs/Vinyls where possible but find a lot of new music through Spotify.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 11:16 amJust had a 'rummage' and borrowed a couple of tracks.
