Sad news. I got to know Dennis a bit, standing on the cricket field end in the late sixties. RIP

Dennis and his mates used to come over regularly to Benalmadena to enjoy the sun and the cheap beer. He used to join in the quiz nights at the Lounge bar with me. A great character and a good lad, it's a bit of a shock that he has died to be honest, the last time he was over here he was in great form. RIP to a good lad and and good claret.

RIP Dennis, I seem to have known him forever. A genuine nice guy, who it was always a pleasure to meet and talk to. His would've been a well attended funeral under different circumstances.

There is a really nice photo/music tribute to Dennis on a forum called Turf Moor Loyal. Mrs Vino just showed it to me.

If you'd played with him or against him you would never believe what a great ref he would be. So sad to here of his passing. RIP Dennis.

Sad to hear this today. Had a lot of time for Dennis. And only seen him recently where as ever he was in good form and seemingly good health.

Always stopped and talked to him a lot. Or had a beer with him in the miners.

He once reffed a game I played in on the Prairie. Cup quarter final. I over reacted to a tackle shall we say... he sent the other lad off!

We always got on and he was the best referee of the lot.

Top bloke who loved the clarets. Sad to hear this today.

Dennis reffed us for many years in the gym at Turf Moor on a Thursday night, he was always someone you could have a laugh with, when I saw him round and about he would talk about going on the Turf or on coaches to away games with his Granddaughter. A thoroughly nice bloke. RIP pal

I didn't know the gentleman but he sounds from reading the posts to have been a thoroughly nice chap. My condolences to his family and friends.

Dennis was a top lad, a rascal but one of the best alright. Much better footballer than given credit for. Referee - what is it they say - poacher turned gamekeeper? Full of tricks but also a kind lad. A big, big loss. RIP.
