Well after being furloughed for another minimum of 3 weeks in top of the 2 I've already done, I'm looking to fellow Clarets for ideas what to listen to preferably on Spotify.

My favourite music and the ones I tend to hammer are

Depeche Mode
New Order
OMD
The Stone Roses

Springsteen. Listen to loads and loads of it, a turn it up so it's loud. That'll learn ya...

Roses are my top band and love New Order so sure they'll be a lot of similar stuff we like. Not sure if they are on Spotify but try the Shimmer Band. Did about 6 songs a couple of years ago went off to do thealbum and just disappeared

Had a very Creation feel about them and reminded me a bit of Primal Scream and Super Furry Animals

On the strength of hearing the last 20 seconds of It Might Be Time and Shazam-ing it in Fopp in Manchester, I bought The Slow Rush by Tame Impala about 4 weeks ago. I’ve not stopped playing it, it’s fantastic.

If you want something long and lots of guitar intros i'd try Pink Floyd.

Bowie's always worth a listen,his early stuff in particular.

Mrs Trevor got me the Western Stars DVD for my birthday. Little intro chat on what each song is about then live version of tune with an orchestra backing him. Excellent.
For the OP. Born To Run is the greatest album ever. Something for everybody and not a weak track.

New Strokes album definitely worth a listen. However as a general suggestion I'd say tune into BBC 6Music. You'll hear some good old stuff but a lot more new stuff from bands and artists some of who you will probably not have heard of before. You'll dislike some of it , find some of it a bit "different" and really love some of it. Chris Hawkins early show and Craig Charles at 4pm are particularly good at the moment.

Monaco was Hooky's band in mid 90's and his singer sounds a lot like Bernard Sumner. I liked their first album (Music for Pleasure) back in the day but now it feels like just a bit of a wannabee New Order

Still if you like New Order and want that kind of sound from something new to you then give it a whirl. They had one decent Britpop era hit

Everyone has a different view ...crime of the century. Supertramp for me. The op choices take you back also.

Just been down a Radiohead wormhole on You Tube for an hour or so......if you've never listened to their early stuff then The Bends and OK Computer are two fantastic albums. They've evolved brilliantly but these are still their peak output for me. Great videos to their stuff too. You might also like The National too I reckon...High Violet and Trouble Will Find Me are two great albums.

Mrs Inho got me the same thing for Xmas, and thanks to you for your reminder, we have just watched it. Truly amazing - absolutely brilliant. What I wouldn't have given to have been in that barn.

Springsteen will be (and should be) spoken about in the same vein as Dylan imho.

And I never really got him for years...

now I do.

Never just writes an album filler...everything has depth, meaning and value. One of the greatest singer songwriters of all time.

I've never listened to quite so much music but I vary it. I was cooking a couple of days ago and in the kitchen for an hour or two. I found a 60s playlist on Spotify and blasted that out. Not everyone's cup of tea and many of you on here won't remember the stuff, but for a change I found it really enjoyable.

I miss a good music thread.
I get that we all have weird and wonderful tastes, two things off this thread. Vegas’s suggestion of trying something new is a great idea and the use of Spotify is fantastic in that it has all the great stuff you like, but takes you down avenues of new discovery.
Robos suggestion of the DMA’s, I would add the Fontaines and Idles.
For the Bruce Springsteen lovers on here and I agree to his brilliance try Sam Fender.
St Albans Tame Impala and the National fantastic choices, I’ll throw in a The War on Drugs and Steve Mason.
Earbys suggestions for Depeche dingle are ace and that’s the beauty of the knowledge of this board.
Me personally I have listened recently a lot to Foals, Bon Iver, The Weeknd and Michael Kiwanuka.

Totally agree. I am a huge fan and the depth and quality of his back catalogue is just incredible. Saw Western Stars twice on the big screen and it's really something special. My partner is not the biggest Springsteen fan but truly loves the film, and album, too.

MrTopTier....YES..the War on Drugs,and particularly their last album A Deeper Understanding, are just superb. Don't know Steve Mason but I am also a big fan of Sam Fender's debut album. Not altogether sure about the "Geordie Springsteen" tag as he has a hell of a long way to justify that comparison but it's a really good debut filled with great tunes.

My family has formed a group called FAM and has just released 2 rock protest tracks on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, etc.

Check them out on Spotify. The tracks are called 'Give Us Yer Money' and 'Wake Up!!'

FAM comprises band members of varying ages from 20s to 70s. We have a lot of fun. I play rhythm guitar and co-write. Any constructive feedback would be welcome.

The title track on that album is stunning. Saw them touring it in Preston. The second part, the instrumental bit, is much more complex than it at first sounds with a very odd timing, the piano phrasing elongates as it goes on, almost unnoticeably. Great band.

Incidentally when I saw them their support act was a then unknown Joan Armatrading with her band, the Movies. Excellent.
