Just binge watched the 1st series....
Very good ...
Trying to picture where in the Starwars timeline it sits.... looks like between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens"
Can't wait for series 2 to arrive

Clone wars (S7) is amazing! Weβre up to episode 11 and the immortal: execute order 66 has just been uttered. Darth Maul is an amazing character. Ashoka is another amazing character, not sure I want her to come into the cinematic universe.

Watched Episode 1 of Series 2 last night. It's very good.
Had to laugh at the Spaghetti western style music and set up of the town terrorised by the creature
Also Mando has a very "Clint" style manner and voice .... but it is good

I've always been a huge star wars fan as most of my age are - very underwhelmed by Mandalorian but that might be down to it lacking the film element, I'm not sure it works as a series.

Star Trek was part of the inspiration for Star Wars tbf.
Trek started with TV series, which initially wasn't that popular, then released the films after seeing the success of Star Wars.
Then during the 80's they returned to TV series.
Their main strength has always been the multiple TV series, 8 of them I think, along with 12 films interspersed accordingly since 1966.
Disney dropped the ball by trying to ram Star Wars films down everyone ones throat without looking at the way Trek does it and building up the wider universe.
Discovery has alien beings that can be traced right back through the Trek universe, bringing with them a familiarity.
Star Wars needs to do the same.

Is there anything about season 2 that might change the mind of anyone who thought S1 was a pile of **** and gave up after four episodes?

no. it's still plodding, derivative crud.
i keep expecting it to crack into life but of course it won't. it's star wars.
the most overrated sci-fi universe in the actual universe.

If you didn't like season 1 then you'll not like season 2 quite simply.
I thoroughly enjoyed 1 and so far 2.
It's expanding on the SW universe as we know it, showing a different side etc.

Great series. Obi wan up next and a lot to live up to.
I know theyβve announced some new films but Iβm quite happy to enjoy the series in the meantime. A lot more scope for character development and crucially not just rehashing the same stories as too much of the recent films have done.

Who trains the Stormtroopers? They canβt shoot and have no concept of taking cover. Their armour is a bit crap as well, itβs always a one shot kill regardless of where they are hit!

Season 3 of Mandalorian being released either end of this year, or beginning of next.
Another SW series set at the end of ROTJ in development, Jon Watts in charge of this one, directed the last 3 Spiderman films.

I think βAndorβ is due for release this year as well. Some of it was filmed in Cleveleys/Fleetwood so expect some particularly odd looking aliens.

Going to start watching Star Wars with the young lad but what would you say is the best order to tackle it in ??
I watched the original 3 in the cinema as a nipper but am I better starting with the newer stuff and if so in what order as Iβm confused with the timelines or if it even matters

I would definitely watch them from Episode 1 Phantom Menace through to Episode 9 Rise of Skywalker in that order. Also recommend watching Rogue One in between Episodes 3 & 4.
