Since Sean Dyche became Burnley manager a total of 79 players have played league football for us. Of those 79, 16 have been neither British nor Irish but can you name them?

Note: The list doesn't include such as Tendayi Darikwa or Scott Arfield who, despite being full internationals for Zimbabwe and Canada, are English and Scottish respectively.

I did say the likes of Darikwa (Zimbabwe) and Arfield (Canada) couldn't be included but Barnes is English and from Somerset. He had a grandma born in Austria but has now been told it doesn't qualify him to play for them in any case. Barnes is very definitely not Austrian.

Thats what I thought. So 4 signings from abroad in nearly 8 years. Thats an amazing stat for any club these days let alone one that has spent 5 of the 8 seasons in the Premier League. Whatever the rationale , it's working. From where we were to where we are is quite incredible.

I heard an interview with Dyche a couple of weeks ago and he was asked about it. He referred to Chris Wood. He said he knew someone who had played with him at West Brom when he was 16 and knew a couple more who had coached him so had gathered a lot of info about him and said he felt he knew him before he walked through the door. He then said that's how the club want it because they don't want to take risks.
