It is getting to that stage in his career - if not soon, will he ever get another opportunity. there is also the factor that we offered home life stability while his children are growing up - that particular need is soon to pass

I’ve always thought that if villa or West Brom came up , with living in northants it would be very tempting.i think he could do very well at villa.we would miss the big fella.

I wonder what our 'pulling power' would be like to other managers when he does leave. It's got to be the most it's been in a long long time.

How many teams would be in for him and have the patience to keep him as manager, like we did in the early day?
Can't see clubs like Everton, West Ham or Villa sticking with him if things got tough.

I've held a feeling for quite a while that this may very well be SD's last season. However I often wonder how close he was to the Sunderland job before Dick Advocaat had a change of mind in 2015 and if so where could he be know. SD is savvy and knows he's as close to omnipotent at Burnley. The politics at some of the bigger clubs appears insurmountable and I'm sure it will play a big part in SD's thinking should an opportunity come along.

I’m not sure he’d be top of Villa’s wish list given the style of football he’s now known for playing.
Whether or not he is more adaptable with a bigger budget, remains to be seen.
I’d hoped that given a few years in the premier, he’d have been able to develop our play a little more. Sadly, it seems that even the riches of this league don’t facilitate that, when everyone else can just spend a bit more.
It must be frustrating for Dyche, he’s been hampered by our finances (and always will be) but done an unbelievable job. He’s probably exactly where Fat Sam was all those years ago at Bolton.

Sean Dyche has been absolutely brilliant for us but we’ve also been brilliant for him. I’m really not sure he could achieve the things he has at another club.
Sometimes a club and a manager just fit and I think we’ll be the pinnacle of his career.

I haven't listened yet but SD must be getting to the point where he'd like the opportunity to manage a bigger club, especially one with spending power. I think we all know he'll move on, it's just when. He'll certainly be difficult to replace. The day he does move on I'll certainly wish him well.

If he sees his contract out with us that will be 10 years, and I wouldn't be surprised if he felt he'd done all he can with us. If a decent offer in the Midlands or London came up I feel he'd definetely be tempted, allowing him to move back home with his family.

SD has been entirely consistent about this every time he’s been asked. He’s always talked about his own personal ambitions if a “bigger” job came along, and how this isn’t a “forever story”. So far he obviously hasn’t been offered anything to his liking. Eventually, he will be, but there was absolutely nothing in that interview he hasn’t said before.

When he does go, I think it will be to a club that doesn't have a hair-trigger when it comes to sacking managers and I suppose this somewhat limits his options. Then again, maybe the gamble worth taking. He's right to have confidence in his own abilities. Also, he'll make sure the contract is beneficial to him should it not work out, especially when he's leaving a club like ours. A club that doesn't kick managers out as soon as we hit a bad run, unlike many other clubs in EPL.

I doubt that any manager outside the top 8 would turn down Villa.
And all failure would mean is the sack and a whole compensation package as a parting gift.

If Sean goes before our recruitment starts performing at an acceptable level we are screwed, but I wouldnt be surprised if he left on the back of a good offer.
Looking at the numbers we aren't in a great place. In the last set of accounts we recorded a small profit. However, that was with the positive money from transfers added in. Without that we would have made a loss of 2m. Going forward we will be running at a transfer defecit. The money that is owed to us will be less and the money that is owed out to other clubs in respect to our recent transfers will be greater. On top of that we are going to need quite a few new players over the next couple of windows.
Last Summer was a hugely important window in terms of replacing diminishing transfer value players with players that could increase in value and we made a complete hash of it.
Even without the financial impact of the Corona Virus £40m was cutting it fine in terms of what we had to spend and what we will probably need. If we lose 5m to the virus and we achieve a break even point on our transfer revenue ( I think we will post a loss ) we might only have a little over £30m to spend on what could be six new players. Had we spent £20m on a single player last Summer ( as we tried to ) then we would have been up **** creek without a paddle.
Wave goodbye to Dyche, put Rigg in charge of finding us a new manager ( Head Coach ) and allow him to govern our transfer business without any constraints and we might as well prepare for the Championship ( with the possibility of League One to follow ).
In order to move forward we need a quality recruitment set up that revolves around more than a WYSCOUT wet dream, consistently poor judgement calls and Umbro Marketing Managers with no established scouting experience. We need a recruitment team than can start earning us money ( without selling off all of our valuable players ) if we are going to safeguard our future and give Sean the tools that he needs to help us progress.
Personally, I think that interview response was an indication of " a gradual shift towards the door ". Something like, I'm really happy here, but based on what happens in the short term I could be looking to move on. I think that the success or failure of our transfer business over the next couple of windows ( and the impact it has on our financial fortune and the strength of the squad ) will make the decision for him.

When Sean Dyche took over in October 2012 the following clubs have had the following managers during the same period:
Sadly, it'll simply be the case for SD that if he went to one of the following clubs he'll simply end up on the managerial merry-go-round as a few defeats in a row will see him sacked, as was the case for all but the most recent managers listed below:
EDIT: i'd even add that with Villa's new owners they will expect him to start winning straight away, likewise, Newcastle.
Everton:
Roberto Martínez
Ronald Koeman
Sam Allardyce
Marco Silva
Carlo Ancelotti
Aston Villa:
Paul Lambert
Tim Sherwood
Rémi Garde
Roberto Di Matteo
Steve Bruce
Dean Smith
Newcastle United:
Alan Pardew
John Carver
Steve McClaren
Rafael Benítez
Steve Bruce
West Ham United:
Sam Allardyce
Slaven Bilić
David Moyes
Manuel Pellegrini
David Moyes

This weird pause is bringing a few non stories to the fore. A period of reflection, with Burnley sitting pretty in 10th, somehow raises Sean’s stock again. He seems to be making quite a few public appearances too, which might not be purely by chance.
Still think Palace is the most likely destination, they’ll be wheeling Hodgson out of there one way or another in the next 12 months or so.
Villa might give Dean Smith the chance to bring them back (if they go down).
He got a big contract there. Interesting question if villa went down, would Dyche drop a division if offered the job.

The trouble for him will be the Big Sam/Pulis thing of the way he plays football.
It’a okay here like it was at Stoke/Pulis, Bolton/Big Sam because he’s been successful and taken us to places we’d dreamt about. The downside for when they get new jobs come along. You need to be successful to get the fans onside. Different jobs/clubs demand different things. Both Big Sam/Pulis got the early jobs done at new clubs but that isn’t enough. I’m not sure it will for a club like Villa if Dyche went. Their fans already want more than just staying up. He could do that. Potentially he could get them top 10. But all it will take is one bad run and the pressure would be huge there.

I agree 100%. But Sean is an ambitious manager he won’t think, lose 8 in a row and I’m gone there. No manager thinks that. I’m sure when Benitez or Moyes took over that they’ll be the men to bring success.
It’ll be a tough decision when he does decide to go. The trouble is he won’t get a Top 6 job. So from Burnley to club top of the rest there only a few jobs.

Every year since 2012 we have had links to SD moving elsewhere. Every year we have had posters "in the know, nudge, nudge, wink, wink" telling us that either the board is running out of patience with his demands/style* or that he is unhappy at the direction/progress/future/budget* of the club.

I don't think Mr Dyche will have forgotten what happened at Watford. Loyalty seems to be central to everything he does at Burnley. With the exception of Bournemouth, where else in the premier league will he find that?

Well I hope if thats the case it's at least 5 years away, as I'd not want any of them here any time soon, not one of them ( arguably cook ) are ready for even top championship football and its players/pressures yet, never mind premier league.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, not many players or managers go onto bigger and better things when they leave Burnley.
The financial side seems good for a while, but other than maybe 3 or 4 in the last decade how many would hand on heart say leaving us was the right decision?
I love the guy, but SD is just a Pulis / Allerdyce type man and this will probably be his peak, if he achieves a career similar to Allardyce I think he would be very happy with that.
It's only because he's our manager that he is bigged up above what he actually is both by pundits and fans.
It's easy to be noticed being a big fish in a small pond whilst having total control from top to bottom.
I'm not sure his style, rules, or methods would work with the "super power" clubs/players/chairmans/CEO/directors of football/fans
SD as done a hell of a lot for this club, but this club has done a hell of a lot for SD.
Could easily have become a Michael Appleton type manager but for the chance we gave him, and our option to stick with him early on...

He’s not going anywhere until the football landscape is clearer. Nobody is going to sack a manager and expect to be able to prise one from a competitor with so much uncertainty.
I also think the clubs that may view themselves as being a tier above us in terms of stature will be keeping a very cautious eye on their finances for the foreseeable future. I don’t see the likes of Villa spending another £150m any summer soon. The draw of some of these clubs will be diminished for a while.
The most attractive clubs are going to be the traditional top 6-7 and Dyche traditionally hasn’t had any suitors in that bracket.

I think agreenwood nails it there
We have no idea when football as we know it returns to anything like normal. TV money, sponsorship, matchday revenue and merchandise are all going to be hit.
The big backers at most PL clubs will not only have lost money relating to their own areas of business, they will not see this as a good time to invest further in the hugely uncertain world of football.
Maybe 3/4 elite clubs will come out of this relatively unscathed - none of those would be looking at SD as the future

I'm on the nothing is going to change soon.
I also agree that SD suits this club, there are many well known, world class managers out there, who couldn't have done anywhere near as good a job as SD, but in the same token, I don't think SD could do as good a job at a top 6 club for example. There is a Psyche to Burnley that SD understands, and unless you understand that psyche, or buy into it, everything you do is doomed to failure. Partly accepting the budget, partly accepting the town and the fans. To run Burnley like any other club just doesn't seem to work.
I have always said SD will leave someday, of his own choosing. I don't think taking the easy route is in his mantra, he will want to challenge himself at a.n.other, I just hope it's a long way off yet.
When he goes he needs to be replaced with someone wanting to make a reputation, not someone who's already got one. Going back to Jimmy Mullen, the board do seem to have a good eye for a manager. I include Brian Laws in that, he just inherited a shitty stick. I have faith they could do it again.
